Default Buying options

Hey guys and gals. I am looking at purchasing a daily driver that i would use in Seattle. I am from So Cal, but I attend the University of Washington during the year. I can't bring the IS up here, i feel like its way too dangerous. I was thinking about purchasing an Xa or a Matrix. I like the Matrix for its larger storage capacity, but i don't actually know how much i would be using it except driving up from So cal. Also i was wondering if anyone knows whether or not if i end up buying two Scions at the same time if there is any type of break. I know that dealers have the pure price thing going on, but in the case i do buy a TC and an Xa. The TC for my brother, Do you guys feel that the dealer would be willing to slap on some extras perhaps, Maybe keyless entry and some stereo equipent or something??? I need your guys opinions.

I'll definately ask. I don't have a problem. I was just sorta curious as to whether or not anyone knew if it were at all possible. As far as i know the Pure price deal restricts them from giving any discounts. So. I won't be purchasing the car/ perhaps cars for a month or so. Im just trying to get my research done. Also anyone got any opinions on the Matrix. I know i read through Edmunds reviews and such, but i would like to hear from the Xa group.
Thanks guys

I drove a Matrix while looking for my mom's car, and it's pretty much a bigger xA with a bit of a nicer ride...nothing to get all worked up about.
Although I really liked the car and was thinking of buying it for myself, I ended up deciding that it was going to end up costing a bit too much.

If you're going to trade in a car, you might want to brace yourself for a very low figure; I came in expecting my old car to get $2500 because it was in absolute great condition, but only got a $1300 offer for it...guy said it was due to Toyota's frequent Scion audits and he "didn't want to get burned" by giving me too much on a trade and him having to take a hit on commission or something like that...
Anywho, all three Scion dealers I dealt with (long story, won't go there) all pretty much were the same; no discounts, no deals. WYSIWYG with Scion I guess.
Ultimately though, I DID get $2300 for my trade once they realized I was about to leave without buying the car.

I also asked about any hookups if my sister and I both bought cars...we both wanted xA's. Guy said nope, it's "set in stone"...which it never is but I can see why it would be a bit more difficult.

But back to the Matrix or xA question....the xA is definitely smaller, and the Matrix has that nice rear window that opens. The Matrix drove a bit better but nothing deal-breaking for the xA. I guess it all comes down to personal preference...Drive both and see which one you like better. I thought the xA was a better deal for the price, personally.

dont know about the whole price break thing. scion people pride themselves with that whole "pure price" thing.

however i may be selling my xA that i just bought this february [im still debating]. my coworker is trying to get a car loan right now so everything is still up in the air. check out my profile for the stuff i added on if ur interested and just pm me.

ps. i do have the alarm with RKE.

Thanks for the input guys. Quite helpful. titojanboy please keep me in mind when you decide to get rid of your xA if you do decide to get rid of it. As far as the matrix vs xA thing goes, you're right about just test driving them and seeing which i like better. Something i'll have to do over this summer. Thanks for your help and please keep those opinions coming.

I believe in the summer, the new xD is coming to showrooms, also if you want a 5 speed you might have limits on your color choice for the xA. I just bought a silver one that five dealers did not have on the lot. I really wanted white, but the closest one was in Vegas. There are much more to choose from in automatic though.

to answer your question dood, I got a good deal on my scion xA
i wanted a BSP xA'06 Manual last summer, and the dealship didn't have one, so they had to ship one in from Japan, which took about a month. Ofcouse I had to put down some $$ as a deposit to get them to ship it in. The car came, and I was going to trade in my old car. They offered me $2300 for a 9 year old toyota with 97,000 miles on it, which wasn't that bad considering it wasn't in that great of a shape. That was a good discount, because they originially was going to give me $1200 for the car, just like the guy above!!..

I argued that I saw that the xA came with keyless entry, lol..which was stupid..but claimed I saw it somewhere before. They told me, that they can't do anything about it, and told me they couldn't put a keyless entry system in for me. So I just walked out after waiting a month for the damn car!, 10 minutes later, while I'm still on my way back home I get a call from the dealership saying that they will install the keyless entry system in for me(few hundered dollar install or so they claim) and that I can pick the car up tomorrow with the same offer...so Basically I got the car for $10,000 with some change, with good argument, and consistancy..haha..good deal I guess...knocked off another $500. That pure price thing can definitely be broken, just need to talk to the rep the right way I guess..lol..

but good luck bro!

Thanks for the help. That is kind of what i looking for. Actually i spoke to a good friend of mine who picked up his xA a couple monthes ago and for some reason he got a free keyless entry as well. He said that the pure price guarantee is for manufacture installed parts. So i guess like dealer installed options such as the keyless entry can be negotiated with. Something that i hope for over this summer. Thanks guys
