Default Can't test drive an XA?!?

I am a previous owner of a Subaru WRX that I autocrossed every weekend and I demand a well put together car for possible future exploits. I know the XA doesn't have *****, but it can handle with a well tuned suspension.

My main reason for being interested in this car it that there is only one in this area of the US that I have seen and I like being unique. I was the first and only WRX owner in this area for quite sometime, but lately about 10 more showed up so I sold mine. The secondary reason I like this car is the gas mileage.

The local dealer says they can't get an XA in if they wanted to because the list is too long for dealers waiting for XA's from Japan. They don't have one for me to test drive and I absolutely refuse to purchase any car without driving it first. They say it will take up to 4 to 5 months to get one in if I purchase one new.

Is the dealership blowing smoke up my butt? No one in town trusts them because of their service department problems. In fact I sold my camry for the WRX because of the dealership refusing to do warranty work on the camry. (long story)

I can test drive one of 3 Xb's on their lot or one of 5 Tc's....but not a friggin XA! ____es me off. I am about to drive 1500 miles to find a dealership that will work with me! Help please?

You don't mention where you are from...........The dealers here usually have a automatic on their lot. As has been muched discussed on this site, the days of the xA and xB are numbered. They will in fact be gone pretty soon. There are a lot of dealers listed under the features tab. You should be able to find someone to work with you..........

I had to drive 60 miles to a dealership that had one. They actually had 2 - both manual. They let me drive it down the block and back for my troubles. But it was enough for me to make my decision.

Sorry I didn't mention were I was from... I live in Minot, ND and work 75 east of there. The dealer here said that no one has them in the state. The closest dealers are at least 4 or 6 hours away. I work out of town all week and am back home by 2am on saturday mornings...hard to get to those other towns.

Yes--Minot ND--there is no way to get there from here......
You kind of have to work with your dealer to see if he can get one from someplace else. There are about 20 dealers within an hour of me--so I feel for you. Make sure the local dealer knows you are sincere and will use them for service. Maybe they can work it out for you..........

Maybe I should just go to CA like I had to do to buy my WRX. Dang that is a long way to drive to buy a car though. On second thought, I should probably just stick to my horse and buggy. ;)

Plane tickets are cheap as of late as well. Being stuck in BFE doesn't help you though. Where you at MSP is probably your best bet.

If you could get to MSP, you might not need to even get on the plane. There are at least 8 Scion dealers within an hour of the airport. Heck, there is one within a mile or so. Try checking MN dealerships before buying a ticket to Cali.

If I were out there I'd let you test drive mine... That sux being limited in dealership options especially when they're crappy ones.

After gas prices rose above $3.00, The Xa sells quickly.

Dang...good call on the Minneapolis dealership option. I forget about Mpls sometimes. That is only an 8 hr drive from here. I heard as of late that the new XA 2007/2008 will be way better. Anyone else think I should just wait?

Default UPDATE

I called a lot of dealers after my local dealer wouldn't even try to help me get an XA. I found a guy in Dickinson that had 2 XA's on his lot and was willing to let me take one for a while. I only had to drive a couple hours to get there but now I have finally driven one. I have a 2006 Indigo Ink XA 5speed on order and he said it should be 3 weeks because it is already on its way, plus he will personally drive it to my house for me. That saves me a long trip again.
