Or is it because that engine is made by Yamaha?
Because the 2ZZ-GE is awsome! Yah, very true its a Yamaha. Not that many production engines out there that can push 100hp per liter-plus, NA.

I have a Xa auto and love it. It goes pretty well but you can't be afraid to use that long skinny pedal on the right! Would more power be better/more fun? Sure but bang for the $$... not much better. My Xa seems to spend considerable time at full throttle but it doesn't mind!

Hey Ken,

Do you have a picture of your xA? You have the color I like.

That's true the Corolla is built here locally in Fremont, Ca. next to the Matrix/Vibe and Tacoma pickup.

Jeff,
Sorry, no pics yet. It seems that every time I wash it and think about pics, it rains and makes the car a mess again. I hope to get some soon.

Default xA power

I test drive an xA automatic a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised how much giddyup it had for such a small engine. I'm getting one this weekend.

Default xA or Corolla LE with full leather!!!!!!!

Toyota and Scion are NOT making this decision easy for me!!

I finally got a price quote on a 2004 xA with the following options I chose:
Rear spoiler, side impact airbags, automatic transmission and alloy wheels. My price $15,720.89 + tax and license.

Ok....great. Now I got another quote for this time a 2004 Corolla LE with the full leather interior with these options I chose:
ABS, sunroof, full leather interior, automatic transmission and alloy wheels my price
$15,995 + tax and license!!!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Oh what you do for me Toyota!!.................

Hmmm, that does sound like a tough decision. I don't mean to diss any xA owners, but I think I might have to go with the Corolla if I would afford it. I don't know, I might have to sleep on that one though. :D The sunroof is really tempting. does it have power everything?

It's loaded! The major plus for me is that Lexus style leather interior.

Leather interior? It must be aftermarket right? I did'nt think you could get leather from the factory in the 'rolla :?:
What are they chargin you for that?

The leather interior is not aftermarket is in an option in the LE. See it at http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/2004/.../interior.html

While I was driving my Xa out to Livermore to watch a dyno test I came up behind a Corolla S. I don't mean to dis any Corolla S owners but that is a "no personality lump" of a car. I'm sure it drives nice and has a little more power than the Xa but it looks like several million other cars.....

Just my opinion,
ken

The Corolla S is NOW not even being considered just like the Honda Civic EX Sedan.
I am now thinking 2004 Sentra SE-R, 2004 Mazda3 S or xA!!??

Am I crazy?

But will I be swearing when I need power?!
I am constantly throwing out the "F" word in my CR-V when I need oomph to pass.

I laughed when I read your post, cause earlier today, I parked right next to an '04 Corolla S. And, my Scion dealer had given me the same car as a rental while I had a dealer related door ding, repaired. So, I am familiar with both cars.

Hands down, the Scion XA just looks better. The Corolla S looks like 20 other cars. Yes, it has more passing power, but my XA Auto with the AEM COI does just fine on the freeway.

It's kinda hard, I know, because the Corolla is such a dependable car, and it does come comparably priced as the XA. But, I think you'll smile more in a SCION :D
