Default Drove a TC yesterday

Power is nice but I hate the interior and the comfort compared to my XA. I don't think paying the extra 4k is worth it imho.

to each his own, but i personally prefer my interior and my comfort... then again, we are talking about stock for stock. all it takes is a few hundred dollars worth of custom seats, audio, and lights for me to change my mind... and probably yours?

I still don't think it justifies paying 17+k for lousy seats. and many visible blind spots.

hm... i don't really have any problems with blind spots. there's only one VERY small patch on each side of the rear quarter panels, but i'm in the habit of always looking over my shoulder quickly before i change lanes anyway, as every safe driver should be. as for the seats... what's wrong with them? i think they're just fine. perhaps you didn't take the time to adjust them to your liking?

I think what he/she is saying .. since they are already throwing down $14K+ on a car... that the interior should already be satisfactory/good.

Personally.. I thought the interior on the tC was decent/fair .. that the tC spec. model to be definitly sub-par / not very good. Not to mention the layout of the interior was, IMO, inferior to the xA's all the way around (viewing angles, placement of instrumentaion, design, etc.).

.... also, a few hundred dollars to me doesn't cut it (what are you gonna do with that.. buy carbon-fiber parts ). Fixing design with money after the fact that you bought the vehicle isn't gonna change a thing (thats if the car does not do it for you ergonomicly speaking ). Its one thing if you really dont like the seats.... and say want to change them to some good/nice like a Sparco .... but then again those seats cost- I believe $800+ per seat .... now your in it for even more $$

haha.. um... with a few hundred dollars you can:

1. paint tC interior silver (like i did... hmm nice 10 dollar mod... check the profile for a pic)
2. convert seats to VRD leather (what is that, around $400?)
3. Replace dome/map lights with LEDs (i did that too... how much? about 10 dollars)

so with those three things, you have leather seats, more interior accents matching the center dash, and a nice little light setup to show off. much better "ergonomics." and there's NO way you can tell me the xA has a better viewing angle for the instrumentation. let me tell you how much id rather look to my center dash every single time i wanted to see how fast i was going or check my RPMs. i'm sure you get used to it, and i'm not bashing normal xA owners, but PLEASE do not argue ergonomics when it comes to that.. it's unwinnable

oh, and by the way, sparcos range anywhere from $300 each to almost $2000 each. also, i doubt people buy sparcos primarily for their ergonomics, seeing as how if you run them with a harness you'll need a bar across your back seat. pretty sure they're mainly either for RACING or for SHOW

I'm not saying anything about the interiors, but the blind spots can be helped a lot by simply getting some convex mirrors for the side view mirrors.

The exact ones that I have on my car

Except I bought mine from autozone for $1.60 each. These are super handy when motorcycles decide that they want to hang out right next to your c-pillar; seriously, they have probably saved lives.

Painting your interior still doesn't change the blind spots and doesn't make it more ergonomically correct.

The center speedometer is actually more ergonomically friendly then the one below your steering wheel. Instead of looking down and not viewing the road at all, you are looking at your side. Plus I don't even check my RPM's in the automatic

Well, its a good thing there are several car manufactures out there.. that make many different kind of cars to suit everyones tastes/likes, preferences ! But, I'd say what Toyota did in coming out with the Scion line in 2003 with the first two cars in the line was something pretty special... that we'll look back on in several years and say, WOW - versitility + good MPG's + affordable + very reliable ... and it shows when you ask Scion owners what they think about there rigs, in comparison to what else is out there for the $$, and there past cars. Its an impressive jump!
