Getting my xA in under a week!
Hi guys, I just joined the forum(a little pre-maturely, should have my xA in a couple days)....
My offer was just accepted tonight(a local guy off craigslist selling his xA) and I will be getting my 2004 xA as soon as the credit union can get the papers together!
I was trying to make the decision between a 2005 Silver xA(129k miles) or a 2004 Black Cherry xA(89k miles)
I ended up getting a fantastic deal on the black cherry pearl!
Im hoping the color will grow a little more on me.
Here is a picture of her
The owner wanted $5500 (the back bumper is cracked but only the plastic)
I ended up talking him down and tonight he accepted my offer of $4000
She runs fantastic and just needs some minor cosmetic work.
So now i have about another $1000 im going to put into her (new LRR tires, buy and paint new rear bumper, probably get a SRI,....i dont know what else)
Anyone have ideas of what to get?!
thanks in advance

Congrats on the xA, My wife has an xA, and I have a Black Cherry pearl xB. I love the color, so much you can do with it. First thing I suggest doing after your plans are complete, lowering the 4x4, Our xA is on springs and the springs are cut and it still isnt very low in the rear, so we are bagging it. Just have fun with it and post up some updates now and then. You can also check out team-ist as well, were we are all fellow egg owners. Later.

Thanks!
Yea I think lowering it will be one of my first larger expenses. Until then I am planning on the Sri and tires and adding aux input for my iPod.
Thanks for the welcoming glad to see you repping the black cherry!

nice my little brother picked one up for his first car, he wanted a xb but he loves the xa now. When he picked it up my sister wanted to trade cars with him and she has a 07 civic coupe. I like the xa and all scions(had a tC &xB(wifes) to be honest. Lowering it would be a first. Have fun with your xa

Feel free to look at my garage on here and see what mods I have and see if there is anything that gives you an idea what to do to yours. Or you can visit my car domain. Page 2 has my mod list on it.

Thanks! Got any any parts to throw my way jk...but seriously if you do...
Thanks everyone im glad to see this board is active!
I have spent the last 2 years with a jeep wrangler as my daily driver/weekend warrior and the jeepforum is extremely busy, was worried it'd be harder to get replies over here.
Man im excited to retire the jeep to my summer toy/wheeling machine!
I really enjoy wrenching on cars/jeeps/whatevers and it looks like it doesnt have to be limited to only the jeep!
Plus the added benefit of trading in my 14mpg rig to a much newer car that gets over double the gas mileage(the savings in gas alone is just about what my car payment is estimated to be!)
As much as I love driving stick...i had to get the auto tranny for my wife. I do 90% of the driving but ive been teaching her to drive stick for the 3 years ive been married(yes i got married at 19! no kids yet) but she just gets too nervous on the roads...but hey atleast the auto has a better final drive ratio so those MPGs will be a little nicer on the freeway.
Oh and my beast of a jeep only had a 2.5l 4cyl....so even though the xA has one of the smaller engines...it still feels great compared to the 65mph limit i could get the jeep up to on the freeway!
thanks again everyone. Hope you have great plans for Thanksgiving!

awesome buy price dude, your stoked! Think about all those people out there getting under 25mpg average in their rides. Pick up one of these puppies for $4K for longer trips.. get 40mpg no problem!
The 2005 model has better consumer reports reviews(higher marks), then the 2004 does, but heck at that price you cannot complain.

What was changed between the 2004 and 2005 model years that made it receive better marks, I thought they were identical.
Yea I couldn't justify spending over $1000 more for the 2005 when it had almost 50k more miles in it! It was in better cosmetic condition but the 2004 just was too tempting, plus left me with some extra money to add stuff myself. I bought it purely as a commuter car to save money on gas, but it is sure a fun car to drive.

I'm not 100% sure what exactly changed between 04-05 (besides bottom side rocker pannels went from the black/grip tape on 04, to painted in 05). All I know is that Consumer Reports gave the 2005 better overall ratings vs. the 2004 or 2006 ('06 was a close second to the 2005 , and 2004 still recieved good marks).
