Happy with my XA automatic
Hi,
I've owned my XA with automatic transmission for 1 week now and have put 900 miles on it.
The reviews that I read, about it not having enough acceleration, nearly scared me off. But I have found that it performs better than expected. So far, I have not needed more power than it provides. My driving consists of freeways (65 to 80 mph), city and country roads. I've even passed other vehicles without much effort.
My previous vehicle was a 1995 Honda Oddessy mini van which did very well but I had to retire it due to the amount of miles on it. I was looking for an economy car to replace it with. The XA seemed like the best choice because of it's high MPG, chair-like seating, low sales price and Toyota's reliability.
The minor things that I dislike about the XA are: Excessive wind noise when the windows are open and harsh ride on a various road surfaces.
I'm going to take the back seats out and put in a carpeted plywood platform for my dog. It will have a built-in water bowl.
I found a set of seat covers ($20 ea.) that have lots of pockets and compartments. They go a long way in making up for the limited dashboard/door storage spaces.
