I have been getting 37 mpg regularly with my stick shift, AC on all the time, probably 1/2 on freeways and 1/2 on streets. Doesn't seem to matter if I make an effort to avoid quick starts or just romp on it.

I suspect my mpg would be lower on the interstate at 75 mph.

Me and the wife just bought a pearl white Xa w/manual transmission, and the first tank was 323 total miles, making the mileage at about 32.3 miles to the gallon. I wish we did more interstate driving, but 99.9% is stop and go, which we all know is a killer on gas.

Finally got my first reading. 38 mpg. Yeah, I drove like an old lady. Didn't go over 60. About 65% freeway. Used a little AC. Just wanted to see what I could get with careful driving.

Hopefully it stays around this reading with more "normal" driving.

Default FUEL ECONOMY

My dad taught me how to break in a stick shift years ago, so I have never heeded the dealers advice and have gotten over 150K on several cars including a 1988 Hyundai! That said, I broke in my 2006 xA by driving how I would drive regardless the miles on the car, and it runs great (how with 14K).

As far as fuel economy, it's based on how I drive. On the freeway at 70 I get about 33 - 34 (lots of hills). In the city around 32 - 33. Both will drop on a hot day and I have to run the A/C. Then I can lose a couple MPG.

Hope this helps.
