Default Newb: Instrument Lights - Do I have a burned-out bulb?

Hi All,

I drove my new Indigo Ink Xa 5-speed off the lot today. I've not felt this excited about a car since my first car... a '74 Super Beetle! The coolest thing is how much I can make it "mine." The only options I went with in the dealership was the arm rest, the iPod head unit (getting XM receiver installed at Best Buy tomorrow morning -- saving quite a bit that way), and the keyless entry.

Today I took the thing out to my favorite place and cornered hard. Was very impressed with stock handling, after all I'd read. Yeah, I felt some roll, but not as much as I would have guessed. And keeping the RPMs up, accelerating through the turns was quite exhilerating!

Well, here's the question... Should there be good illumination behind the A/C control in the bottom left? Where the "Max AC" (whatever) words are? It is not lit at all in my Xa. Also, should the interior dimmer switch (to the left of the steering wheel) be illuminated by a bulb behind the dash? I'm asking because I wonder if the service guys might have not put some stuff back they way they found it when they were putting in the keyless entry.

I am very **** when it comes to cars and bulbs. I CANNOT stand to have bulbs burned out on the dash, or anywhere! (My first couple jobs were detailing cars, so I know a couple things about making them look close to 100%

Thanks for any help. If there should be light where there ain't light on this bug, I will be taking it to the dealership tomorrow to get this rectified!

Good to meet all of you! I have been having fun reading through threads here and there, and it seems this is a very welcoming group -- another feeling akin to classic VW ownership!

Andy

The MAX AC words don't light up on mine nor is there any light on the left side. So the mirror adjustments and dimmer switch have to be done by feel.
Certainly could use a few more lights on the dash. Guess that's how they saved money.

Thanks for letting me know! I just didn't want to start out with a flawed gem.

(The xA is at the big box store getting the XM tuner installed right now!)

welcome norse...glad to have you. You will continue to learn new things on your xa all the time....especially reading new posts. A few weeks ago I found out that the radio can be changed to sound better in the xa by choosing the correct
car option. Just in case you haven't figured it out, press the volume button. It will take you to the different steps each time you press it. Pretty cool....
Good Luck!!

Welcome!!!! If you still are not sure if you have any bulbs out, go to a dealer after dark abd check out a pristine xA....Judge by a known good standard.

Then come over to xatuner.com We have some threads about interior light swaps....
