Default NEWS UPDATE on 08 xA and xB...!

First, I'll tell you what I heard. And this is from a salesman who is "close" with the district manager for Northeast Scion... The dude hasn't bullsh!tted me yet, so I dunno...

According to the guy from Scion...

There are no 07 xAs or xBs... the 06 will be continue to be built until late November... Then, in the spring of 07, the replacement cars (Ractis and second gen bB) will come out as either 07s or 08s. Furthermore, and this is disturbing news to me, he said that there is NO Release Series 3.0 for the xA...!!!

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?!?!?!?!

Wait... the Ractis is coming over? Yeah right.

Might as well call it the Rectum. Ugly.

aww are we not even good enough to get a 3rd RS? I think he slipped and meant no RS4.0? And on the Ractis and bB, most sources are pointing away from those two cars and are suggesting completely new body styles.

We aren't getting the ractis or the bB. The dealers don't even know everything yet. Every dealer is saying something different. This one just seems to be more misinformed than most.

It would be nice to know whether this is true. If the Ractis really is the next-generation xA, it would make buying a new Scion xA now an easy choice. It is always a tough to buy a new car at the very end of a model life, especially with Pure Price meaning you can't get a special deal like you normally would when a body style is being discontinued.

The Ractis is ugly enough that I would rather have the current xA despite likely improvments to the interior and space. If the current xA didn't exist and the Ractis was my option, I'd probably just buy the Honda Fit. The Honda Fit doesn't look near as nice as the xA, but I think it looks a little better than the Ractis.

That pic acually makes it look ok, it looks incredibly similar to the Fit...I'll have to see the pics of the Americanized version before I for sure decide if I like it or not.

If we were just getting JDM Toyotas why would they even bother spending time and money on concept cars? They wouldn't. Both models are said to be all new designs. The xB will look somewhat like the t2b concept and there has been no word on the xA and it is rumored to be released after the xB replacement. The simple fact this delear told him there would be no RS 3.0 should be enough evidence that he was misinformed.

You could totally be correct that the dealer he talked to was misinformed, and you're right that everything points to there being an RS 3.0 xA which brings that dealer's knowledge into question, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the next generation Scions were cars being sold elsewhere. Isn't that true of the xA and xB today? I have no idea about the Tc. Designing a Scion just for the American market would be much more expensive than using designs which are sold globally. The Scions are relatively low volume cars and they are supposed to be good values. Using designs sold elsewhere allows them to sell a low volume (in America anyway) car at a reasonable price.

The Honda Fit is probably the most competitive car with the xA today. It is just a slightly modified (to meet US standards) version of a car Honda has been selling in Japan and elsewhere. The Ractis might not be the next xA, but it wouldn't surprise me. It would probably match up very competitively with the Honda Fit. Today, the Honda Fit has advantages over the xA in a few areas such as interior quality (at least IMO) and interior space. But in looks the xA crushes the Honda Fit. For me, that overshadows the advantages the Honda Fit has. IMO, the Ractis would lose in the looks department (compared to the xA) but stack up well with the Honda Fit in other areas. I think turning the Ractis into the xA would be a mistake, but I could easily believe Toyota would do it.

The tC is only sold in America. It was spesifically designed for the American market.
