Default A question about the DIN door on the xA

I have seen pics of installs in other models of Scions, but not so many for the xA. On my 2006 xA the bottom DIN slow (just above the shifter) has a door. The stereo, however, is located in the top DIN slot that is more at eye level. I want my Avic D3 installed up there, but I want the door.
Is the door just a DIN pocket that can be re-located to the eye-level DIN hole?

the top where the radio is, is not the same shape as where the oven is, its slighttly curved. i dont think you could fit a double din radio in the oven and relocate it to the top. maybe a single din would work

You could take the oven out and fit a double-DIN stereo in that space, but I don't think you could actually fit a stereo inside of it. If you relocated the oven to the space where the stock radio is you wouldn't have access to the brackets to mount a stereo in that space unless you cut the sides of the oven off. Even then you'd lose some space and might not be able to fit anything in there at all!

guess I'll have to do without the "oven" then. I just want something covering my AVIC-as high up as it will sit, it's just begging to get stolen.

^^^I have the same problem...My quick easy solution so far is to lay my sun shade over the dash, instead of propping it up with the sun visors.
