Default Rear ended! need help.

so i got rear ended the other day(FYI: woman and lifted trucks dont mix in my books!), but anyways i need help finding a cheap OEM blue hatch, or if theres one for a reasonable price, carbon fiber. any suggestions and help is appreciated. i tried searching my local junkyards, and searching zeee veb, but i couldnt find anything that fits my specifications.

a lil bout my situation: the lady rear ended me cuz she was going was too fast and not paying attention. it was without a doubt her fault, so i figured she would of taken the fault.... of course not! she ended up getting her boyfriend involved and fought up a mean case with the insurance companies and found a way to convince them there was no1 at fault!(im guessing they used my young age as a driver against me) so now im left to handle my own damages. long story short ill be seeing her in court and i need a quick fix until then. the estimate on my car was for 4k big greens. i cant really foot that bill right now, even if i can get it back later down the road. i also figure i could fix it myself for cheap and bring my estimate to court and passing it off as having my car fixed at the shop.(i know the guy who worx there, hes gunna hook me up)

Ugh.. Freaking lame as hell.. feel your pain and I'm sorry. Right after I bought my first xA. I was rear ended by a new driver... Her dad got involved and tried to convince the cop there wasn't any damage to my bumper and he shouldn't even write out an accident report.. I lost it. Luckily.. I did get paid and repaired.
My best advice is to call junk yards.. most of them have a database of what available in the area. You may not get the right color, but at least you won't have exhaust fumes leaking into your hatch.

unless you have tinted tails i don't see how they could have possibly said they weren't at fault. in a rear end collision the person that does the rear ended is ALWAYS at fault. a lot of the time tho if you have tinted tails they use that as an argument, but even then it's a weak one.

Sorry to see your RS3 damaged. Its gonna be hard to find a hatch that color in a salvage yard. here is a national search engine that works well. good luck

don't you carry collision coverage on your xA?

if you do, then use it. i know the accident isn't your fault and like most people, you don't want claims on your policy history and such, but a lot of people don't understand how insurance works. if you use your collision coverage with your insurance coverage, then your insurance gains what is called subrogation rights, which means they can pursue the party responsible for the damages to your vehicle. which means they'll go after the other person's insurance company. If the insurance company denied your claim, then it will go to arbitration, where an independant 3rd party panel will review the loss facts about the accident and pass down a binding agreement that both companies will abide by.

now remember, having a claim on your policy doesn't really effect your rates, having an at-fault accident where your insurance company can't recover from the loss does. if your insurance company successfully subrogates after using your collision coverage, then they'll refund you your deductible and it will almost be like there was never a claim on your policy.

if you don't carry collision coverage, then...yeah, you're SOL and gotta take them to court, but insurance will actually pay for a defense for the other party.

padillaXA -

Sorry to hear of the smash - that sucks.

But on a good note - I have everything you may need but in silver. I have a body guy who can paint to match if you need. I have a complete 06 TC parts car that was lightly hit in the nose with all parts remaining other than damaged nose, engine, and wheels. I am located in NYC/Long Island if you can make the drive. You didn't list where you are located.

thax for the offer man but i got 1 small problem, and 1 big problem: small- i live in so-cal, the big- i have an xA not a Tc.

i found the parts i needed but there not the "exact" color, and they have to be shipped x-country, making the price a hefty handful more. normally i wouldnt even put attention to the color, but im in the process of setting up to sell my car so i can get a down payment together for a new car, and i needed to squeeze every penny i can outta this sell, the obvious work done and unoriginal parts might decrease the value quite a bit.

i wanted to throw this out here on the note of getting a new car, im looking at either a new xD or a slightly used tC. i like the subcompact size and mileage(as well as being very very familiar with the 1.8L under the hood) but the increased power and sporty look from the tC is alluring me in so much.(price is non-relevant because they both are around the same price)
whats your guys' opinion? which car would you choose?

Buy another color hatch from the salvage yar and get a body shop to paint it. Would most likely be cheaper than shipping, though I'm wondering if the damage is limited to the hatch. Did it pust in the latch, bumper or hinge at all?

the hatch wont open or close properly but the hinges are salvageable, and the bumper was demolished, both the cover and impact bar. and i was thinking of painting it too but im trying to be as cheap as possible, i guess that'll be the rout i go tho.
