Hey everyone I have a 2006 scion xa. It just hit 100,000 miles and I have to get the oil changed. Was wondering if that noise could be because it needs an oil change or if it is something else. It ticks quietly while in idle but when I accelerate it gets a little louder but goes away once I'm cruising. Sometimes there is a little squeal to the ticks to so I was thinking maybe the belts but I don't know how to check myself if the belts are bad. Thanks for any input.

 

I had the same type of ticking on mine, and it turned out to be a bad water pump.
