Default Weird tire wearing

Been having excessive tire noise while on my daily commute (200miles round trip) for a couple of months.

I ordered new tires, so I took the wheels/tires off this evening, through them on the back of the dually (along with my new tires), to take into Houston to get mounted. This is when I noticed that the rear tires had massively worn on the inside.

What could cause this? Does it need an alignment? This is my first front wheel drive vehicle, so I guess it would need a four wheel alignment? Is this something that is done to the xA?

Thanks!!

That's very strange. The rear is not adjustable. Were the tires rotated recently?
I can understand if the fronts wear on the inside, moreso if you ride is lowered.
On front you can use adjustable camber plates. The rear should be even unless you have negative camber shims installed. Hope this helps.

when was the last time you got an alignment? have you lowered your car, if so did you get an alignment after? if not then you def. should get that done. you wont need camber plates up front unless your running air. that was the only time i used them. other then that i'm dropped on tanabe coilovers and i'm fine.

How much is your car lowered, if at all?

it's not lowered at all, and never been aligned. I don't do alignments unless I have a problem, and this is the second set of tires on this car without any problems.

Let me also mention, these are upgraded wheels/tires, been on the car for 50k+ miles.... 205/45/17 on 17x7 rims.

I had just rotated them about 5k miles ago, front to rear.

Everything on the car is stock, nothing has been changed except the wheels/tires, and car has 60k miles on it.

So, you didn't rotate them at all for the first 45k?

no, I had two sets of tires in that time. If I'm getting even wear, I run the tires for half of the expected life, then swap them front to back. Has worked well for hundreds of thousands of miles that I've put on vehicles.

I dropped the wheels and tires off at Discount to get mounted.

I looked over the tires again... they are wearing on the inside, but not evenly... and it seems to have worn kind of blocky.

The Discount Tech seemed to think it might be suspension related... any opinions?

I used to work for a discounted tire shop, thats the last place I would ever take my car.

I had the dealer do a full alignment after lowering it and recently 2 new tires when I had scion wheels installed.

Unless its an alignment issue, it could be your rear bar wobbling and flexing under the weight of those wheels.

Got the new tires on... vehicle rides a lot better.

Gonna drive the car for a few days and see how it goes. Shocks and struts appear to be fine, so I'm not thinking it is supension related. I have a feeling that it happened because of the tires being out of balance.

We will see.
