What don't you like about your xA?
The lack of financeing options kind of sucks, my credit score was 831, and the intrest rate scale stops at 730, most car companies would have given me 0% Toyata hung me with 5.55%. Cruse control would be nice.
Love this car (and I looked at many cars). If I could change anything it would be add an arm rest for free (instead of the hundred bucks I spent) and include cruise control. Only thing that really bugs me is 3500+ RPM's when running at 70mph or more. Just turn the radio up to solve that annoyance.
I don't care for the height of the front seats; should be lowered.
The speedometer's KM round could be somewhat bigger, since driving in Canada was a pain with the numbers so small, it was too hard to get used to.
I wouldn't want such wide fenders, they'd look better more inside the car, or at least equalize them with the door panels.
The car should come standard with the tC wheels. Seriously.
Stock grill choices. Japan has two for the 2006—a single-bar and a triple-bar. The double-bar still looks nice, so it'd be neat to be allowed a choice when ordering. I'm not caring for the single-bar much anymore.
Engine compartment configuration. It's good and all, but replacing my headlights was a huge pain. Seriously, how the hell do you get your hands in there?
Rear door armrests. They're pretty much non-existent. This is too uncomfortable for long trips, guys.
Rear seats. I'd gladly give up trunk space for just a little more room in the rear.
Stereo system. More. Bass. Period.

I don't like:
- That the dealership forgot to configure the stereo properly. It needs to be set to know that it's in an xA, or it defaults to thinking it's in a tC and sounds pretty feeble. Press the SSP button for a few seconds to see what car your stereo thinks it's in.
- The paint chips dreadfully easily. It's almost like just looking at the hood causes paint to flake off. If you don't have any chips yet, then quickly go get some of that clear protective bra plastic stuff installed before it's too late!
- It's a FWD. I don't have to like that
- No limited slip diff combined with crap stock tires = squealy front inside wheel at any provocation in wet conditions.
- It's up on stilts and looks retarded, but I have some Goldline springs already just waiting for Koni shocks to solve that problem.
- Seat and seating position are very upright. Not particularly comfortable for long term driving.
Because this thread's only about stuff we don't like, I won't talk about the things I do like

I agree that the seats are too high, I have a long torso, and I'd gladly trade space for storing something underneath the seat for more headroom. I feel like I'm watching the roach from the very top of the windshield, and the rearview mirror and stupid windshield satellite antenna are too close together, taking up more precious windshield space. I've only had the car a week, I love it! BUT, it's raining this week in so cal, and I'm suprised that the rear windshield wiper doesnt have an adjustable intermittant setting, the front one too for that matter, how hard would it be to have one that you set the delay by twisting the ****? we have the technology. I dont really care that the stock tires suck, because I got some 18" wheels and tires (now totally wishing I'd have got 17s ...ugh. Great car at a great price, just some of my small gripes,
Oh yeah, and that the oven(center compartment) light only comes on when the doors are open is stupid.

Nitpicks ahoy!
1. The windshield wiper leaves a streak between the two wipers (especially when cleaning the window by squirting some fluid instead using it in the rain).
2. Some minor fit and finish issues (the radio doesn't look like it's mounted perfectly squarely on, theres a little seperation of the fabric on the front pillars by front doors (although this may be a side airbag design issue)).
3. My radio has a minor problem. When I first turn the car on on a cold morning, sometimes it changes the radio station by itself (up or down by .2 MHz). After a couple minutes this goes away, and it's only happened maybe four or five times or so.
4. I'm getting much less gas mileage than I think I should (although I think it's because I drive it hard sometimes in tough city traffic with very little highway miles). I'm getting 22 MPG or so on some fuel ups.
All of these problems are super-nitpicky, though. Mostly I love the car.
To clear up a couple things previously posted in this thread:
1. Cruise control is a dealer installed option, but only in states in the southeast, where there is a third party that has an (old) contract to be a go-between Toyota and dealers (who Toyota wants to get rid of but can't). It is not a Toyota option.
2. Armrests, however, are most certainly an option availble everywhere. I have one, and I'm glad my car came with it (I didn't order it specifically-I took the first car that came along with side airbags, and it had a spoiler, armrest, and floor mats already attached, and I didn't delete them).

OK, I'm whining and I know it, but after 9 months of ownership (yet only 1525 miles, yes, 1525!), one thing that has really become an annoyance is all the little places that store water all over the car and make it a real pain in the ___ to dry after washing. The taillights, the window frames, the rocker panels, the mirrors, the headlights, the spoiler, the rear license lamps, the door handles, etc.... Just when you think you've got it all dried off, you go for a spin to the store and I'll be dammed if there isn't several water spots all over the place where the water managed to blow out from some hidden reservoir somewhere. I just wish Scion could do a better job of sealing things. When you spend 2-3 hours just washing your car, then try like hell to dry off every little nook & cranny, only to find a bunch of water spots after you drive it is just a real pain. Combine that with some of the worst paint I've ever seen and you become paranoid to try to remove the water spots because you fear you'll scratch the paint if there's a speck of dust in the area, is just plain disheartening.
Well, I'm done ranting. Aside from this, the car is a blast to drive and a great value.

this car turns and stops like an animal which is what i like. But i wouldnt mind a few extra ponies... This car really lacks in the power department.
I would also like an armrest
A 6th gear would also have been a nice add on or a different final gear because when you crusing at 75 MPH that engine is running at almost 4000 RPM (not very fuel economic, running an engine constantly at those revs.)

I've had my car for 2 days... no complaints. I love it.. but here's a few things...
1. no arm rest (which you guys have covered already)
2. the fact that the moonroof is not an option on the car, or you cant find it on the car except a release series. Which is fine, mine is ordered and will be installed, but why isn't it an option?
3. Interminent wipers. Why not have a variable? Also the rear wiper (which i love!!) needs to be interminent as well
think thats about it

I bought the car cause it's a great bang for the buck. I'm a big fan of ABS.
Downside: I could really use an extra gear for mpg and to lessen the whine and rpms on the freeways.
The very best thing is I'm the only XA in my town :D
