XA Dash board modifications?
I hate it the car seems to have so much surface area, but its unusuable because it ramps to the floor area. Ive seen some people mount guages in the drivers side area, but what about a strip of molding to the bottom or lay some non stick cloth to it and tack that down? Whats under the dash board, can you reach that from the petal area?
I want to mount my scan guage right at the corner of the defroster vent at the windshield and dash board and make a hole for two zip ties and one for the data cable. Then run a strip of molding across the lower part from vent to vent.
Does this sound doable, safe? I know the passengers side you got the air bag to deal with, but I think the yaris you get both drivers and passenger side glove boxes.

The dash top is really easy to remove. The tech section should have a write up. I like the guage pod that sits on the steering column to break up some of the open space, but have never heard of mounting a Scangage where you want. Don't you think that just screams "Steal me"? From the outside, it won't appear to be mounted securely, and by the time the window is broken and the thief is trying to yank it out, it doesn't really matter that it's solid as a rock.
Some people have flushed gages into the dash cover, but that looks very labor intensive.
