I was thinking about getting this, I may be the only one, but I wish the Xa came with a guage to monitor mpg. I think if you want to optimize your tank you have to get more than one point of feedback (i.e. when you fell up) ... this product looks like a good buy, plus it has other functions.. I'm considering buying it and putting it in the "auxillary box" on the dash ...

First fillup of my 2006 xA 5 speed after the light came on - 369 miles on 10 gallons. I'm happy with the mpg, and now I know I have 60 miles or more of gas after the light comes on.

Well y'all as ur self appointed gunea pig I can say that the magnetic fuel saver(the Fuelboss) in all optimism mite get u 1/2 mpg or,.5 at the most.I still have it on my Scion but,it is more of a ornament for my engine than anything else.I mite travel to Nashville again this memorial weekend .I can already c the oil companies salivating at the thought.

Y'a ll ,I had a unfortunate/fortunate accident about 3 weeks ago.I ran over a cat and I don't know wether to curse it or,bless it!It knocked out the bottom air duct on the passenger side of the front spoiler(the little black thing there is 2 of them on each side).I had to c if this was effecting my gas mileage in the slightest. So far, with my last gas fillup today I am aquiring 40.9mpg with the A/C mostly on full blast. My last tank I got 393 miles using 9.6 gallons of gas .I'm pretty sure that equals to 40.9.I round that off to 41mpg .I don't know if that cat did me a service or,not.I am of course going to leave it b to find out .Oh yes ,and I have to inform u all that it was 50/50 driving (50%in cty,%50hwy).Interesting ain't it!

I'm curious why not just do a 10-20 tank average and list one number? It's much more accurate. I did a 20 tank average on my '91 2WD 4dr. Explorer and got 23.6mpg with about 95% interstate driving. When you say 44-47 is that figuring on 2 tanks or what? It really shouldn't vary by 3mpg if you're doing a repeat commute. My xA is getting 37.5 commuting to work.

I'm doing a thing I call "ultra hypermiling"now .Where on top of a hill I put my car in neutral and coast down it .I only do this on hwy driving when nobody is bhind me and there arent any dangers in front of me.Due to the Scion's alignment Iget about .2-3 miles each time I do this but,it adds up .This weekend due to illness I missed the Natchez Trace Exit and went on I-65 toward Huntsville coming from Nashville,TN.My speeds excelled from 64-80 mph on it .I know I broke with tradition on that ride, lol.I took 31 south going to Pulaski ,TN then 64 west to Waynesboro.I had a drive nonethe less ,lol. With a 102 degree fever that was the best I could do.I spent up a tank going to Nashville and back before refueling at 435 miles on that tank(I got thier to that gas station b4 the gaslight started to blink by the way but,I'm sure it was close).I did this "ultrahypermiling"thru all of this driving 64-80 mph and still got 43mpg!!Going to do some more expermints to see how this worx out soon.Y'all I may get 50mpg yet???

I think coasting down hills might get dangerous....Around here, there is always someone behind you.

I frequently see 40-42 when I drive lightly loaded with limited stops, even with AC. I don't call it anything fancy, just "Driving up to the cabin in weekend traffic."

I have an eccentric uncle who will shut his motor off on every downgrade and whenever he slows to a stop.

Not sure if it saves gas, but it keeps his starter mechanic happy.
