Today ,I installed the platinum fuel saver .So far my only evidence that it does increase gas mileage is my friend .He has a 96-97 Ford Taurus that reguraly gets 27mpg .He installed the tornado and the platinum fuel saver and now gets 34mpg.So ,I'm going to c if the platinum improves my mileage also.So far the tornado has helped it go up from 37mpg to 40.1mpg on average.I drove a brand new Prius the other day and it had a dissappointing 37mpg on it.Oh and they wanted $25,500.00 for it .I have paid $15,500.00 for my ScionXA and so far I am doing circles around that Prius.So far, I have spent a total of $170.00 dollars for both of these fuel savers so I think I have enuff play,lol.Of course,I'm going to do other things as well and I think it's safe to say,"I will get into hybridville ,for less".This is my way of souping up a car just as I hear about spoilers,body kits,coils,and such .Y'all ,gas ain't getting any cheaper from what I know.I heard it's projected to get up to $3.50 a gallon of gas in summer and I'm conservative ,from my other buddies say it's going to get to $ 4.00 a gallon. Y'all ,not unless I'm smoking some wacky weed I dont c "hybrid" stuck on as a emblem on the Scions.I have heard that I'm discontented with the car .I fully enjoy this car and if I'm getting better mileage than a hybrid u can paint me discontented,lol

 

I have 2 fuel savers on my Scion Xa .After the first Tank I achieved 36 mpg and with the A/C on .The platinum fuel saver really spread it's legs after the 2nd tank getting a phenominal 45 mpg without the A/C on .Y'all I'm getting closer and closer and I'm still not quite done yet !After my 2nd tune up at the Toyota dealership I plan to install "salt lake" hubcaps .I feel that this will give a extra aerodynic performance maybe, increasing the gas mileage by 1mpg.From what I have seen so far it is possible that I could achieve 50mpg.I love this car and it's such a joy to drive.

 

Your miles/gallon may be going up, but so are your dollars/mile. That's okay with me; it's your wallet. :-)

 

EVERYBODY'S dollars/mile is going up, those mods were a one time expense so they will amortize out fairly quickly... At 40 mpg, that $170.00 will be back in his pocket in no time....

 

I'm still getting ruffly 43 mpg so far.My wife uses it with the A/C on to a from work.She puts most of the city driving on it and I do most of the hwy.Tonite in all fairness I did some city and hwy with the A/C off of course with just the fan on .I think it's about to storm here tonite.So I really dont need A/C.I'll c y'all shortly.[/list][/b]

Sounds like some debunkers again.I welcome others to try the tornado or the platinum .I think it would offer another dose of reality for or, against them.I encourage 1 of u to step up to the plate?Please,put me in check and make this a worthy cause or, a lost cause ?My odometer reads 6300+ now .Anybody?

 

I don't have my car yet, i'm going to pick it up next Wednesday, but i'd like to bry that Tornado fuel saver soon afterwards. As soon as I get the money, that is.

 

I don't trust CR at all..... They have an agenda that I don't agree with no matter how much they say they are independent...

From that report, they are saying they don't work but they didn't test them this time.

386 miles on a 9.3 gal.fillup and I figure I have 1 more bar .I'm calculating thats 41.5 mpg so far ?I figure in my guestimations that's around 44.1 mpg on a full tank ?I was think at the end of this it will be 411 - 413 .I was wondering if anybody can check my math?

to others with frustratingly low milage, and others pointing to them that it's driving technique, once I spent 2 hours of my life on the highway simply to see what the absolute best milage I could get from xA. Verdit, 32. For some folks, it might be driving habits. Others, as in my case, it's mechanical.

Before that, I even spent money on an alignment tuned expecially for the best milage. Still I can't break 32mpg.

 

Umm... you're getting 41.5 MPG on the first 9.3 gallons. Chances are, on the FULL tank, you'll probably still be getting around 41.5 MPG. MPG is a portionality ratio... so (theoretically) after 2 gallons, your MPG is approx. 41.5. After 4 gallons, your MPG is approx. 41.5. After 6, 41.5. After a FULL tank, theorectically (assuming everything's constant), you'll have 41.5 MPG.

But even still, I congratulate you! I'm still only seeing 29.5 MPG. I think that this may be due to my large tire diameter, slightly heavier-than-stock rims, rim in general, driving habits, me liking the sound of my exhaust, and me liking the sound of my intake.

But I agree with LeeD, even before I went modding crazy, I never got better than 34-ish MPG. In my case too, it's partially mechanical. I've gotten alignments and kept my tire pressures at a good PSI. I wonder somtimes if my o2 sensor isn't messed up...

 

try the irridium plugs... go with denso...I have NGK and it runs better, but no change in mileage.

 

I just filled up 1/2 87 octane 1/2 89 .Something odd happenned it registered 9.1 gallons I must b off some how on my calculations I figure or, maybe a hiccup in the tank?Oh, well?By the way on the last tank I finally finished it getting 400 miles on 9.3 gallons .My calculations state thats getting over 43 MPG.Give or,take a few due to my wife uses the A/C.

 

i use to always wait till the light went on on my lexus is300.

i'd drive about 20 miles into the light too (sometimes 35 :X)

car runs fine as long as there's fuel in it. letting it run out is VERY bad for your car.

it is a good rule of thumb that you have 2 gallons of gass left in the car when the light goes on.

 

Oh yes,even when I had my insight hybrid I always had at least 2-3 gallons in it b4 filling up again

 

In a newer car, it's not bad to run low, but as the car gets older, if you run it low, the crud you have collected over the years now gets sucked into the fuel system.... not good. I like to fill up around 1/4 left..
