Default xA rearview mirror dangerous?

Is it just me or does anyone else find that the xA’s center mirror seriously blocks forward visibility? It’s not like I’m really tall either. In fact I’m quite short, yet every time I bear right on the curvy mountain roads I live near, I feel like I’m flying blind into turns. I have to duck my eyes under the mirror to ensure no animals (deer, elk, etc.) are waiting to jump in front of me.

I’m seriously thinking about ditching the mirror. Somewhere I once read about “real driving enthusiasts” doing the same thing with their roadsters, like who cares what’s behind you when you’re doing serious driving. Many years ago, I junked the mirror on my Toyota wagon because the double layer of 5 percent tint was so dark that the mirror was useless.

Today I twisted the mirror in my xA as far up toward the headliner as possible, so I could not see anything in it. For the whole day, I used only the side mirrors. I hardly missed the center mirror at all.

Anyone else trashed the center mirror? Anyone else find it annoying?

doesn't get in the way most of the time. though, once, i was at a four-way-stop and my mirror completely blocked out the presence of a car to the right of me.

my sister asked me if i wanted a "broadway" mirror a while ago, and i refused because it would block so much of my foward view.

I don't think it gets in the way that much. You can try pivoting it up... there are two ball joints on the mirror...

its because the seats sit so darn high. I have mine as far up as possible and i still feel I'm sitting too high in my seat.

I have noticed a problem as well, I cranked my mirror all the way up and still notice that it's kinda in the way.

Ah, thanks for the tip. I never noticed. Mine was set about as low as possilble. I raised it this afternoon, and I will try it this way for a while before getting rid of it.

you using a wide view mirror? i have problems seeing forward with mine, only around sharp turns, with the windows rolled up (25% tint) and vent visors i can't see crap around a turn. you can just pivot it like someone said above to move higher up so it's not in the middle of your windshield

I'm just using the stock mirror. My only real trouble is on turns and curves to the right. Left is no prob. I have 15 percent tint on the windows, 5 percent at the very top of the windshield. No prob with that at all. Just the mirror. Next time I go out, I'll try the mirror cranked up as high as it will go. If it still bugs me, off it comes.

I wonder if the mirror can be replaced with an after market, smaller, convex mirror?
