Default XA Remote starter question.,,

Ok so I'm sorta new to scions i personally have a 05' TC but my question here is about the XA:

My friends just bought a BSP 05' XA and they want to add keyless entry and remote starter to it (automatic)but does the XA have a microchip in the key like the TC's do which require a special unit to get a remote starter to work?

thanks for the help everyone.

couldn't you just ask the people in parts at a dealership or something on this? and then post the answer in this thread for us to know?

only thing i know about this is that we xA's are the only one's to NOT have keyless entry. personally i will be installing a remote start on my MT xA, so if i end up finding the answer by trial and error, i'll post it up on here.

good luck!

I am 115% sure there is no chip.
Also, you would not run into a position where you couldnt use the remote starter anyways. Remote starters are universal, its the bypass that is vehicle specific, and bypass's can be wired into any remote starter

the xa has to have something, if they didn't, why did my gf's car come with the same little metal rectangle that if you lost both keys to your car, is required to make a new key?

because that silver piece comes with EVRYT toyota/ scion. All it is is the "key code" for the cutting machine. Has nothing to do with the chip which can be only programmed by a toyota scan tool ;)

Ok I got the remote starter installed but the power door looks will not work for me??

I have installed about a 1/2 dozen or so alarms/remote starters already but this one I'm not getting the company that makes the alarm doesn have clear instructions about how to wire door locks.

Do i need to use a relay for the power door looks to work on this unit?
http://www.commandoalarms.com/itm100014.htm

right now i have the green wire hooked to the factory brown/yellow wire and the blue wire hooked to the factory blue/yellow wire (think its that color) and nothing.

please someone help, as im trying to get this install done asap!

Can't say that I received this little metal rectangle when I bought my xA. Guess I'll just have to use a screwdriver if I lose both my keys.
