Default xA suspension kit info

YAY! Getting my tax return, so I want to get a new suspension kit for my baby! Any advice or recommendations? Anyone know of some good deals, sales, that sort of thing? Don't see anything listed on the classifieds here. Thanx!

for my suspension set up i have tanabe df210 springs, progress rear sway bar, dc sports strut bar, and a jic front under brace. My car handles like an ice skate, i would highly recommend a similar set up if you like cornering quickly. The only thing i want to change is my springs, and thats because i want to get the progress coil-overs.

Keep in mind, dont just look for "xA" adds, any xB 1gen. suspention stuff will also fit our rides as well

I'd recommend a Eibach Pro kit (not majorly extreme, but still 1.5" drop, great ride quality- very similar to stock) , for about $200-225 at your door. Its more of a drop then TRD , but not so extreme(say Eibach sportlines) = 2" drop , that you'll need to do a camber kit on it, etc.

How many miles are on your ride ? If you have, say under 40K , I'd consider just keeping your KYB stock shocks. They work perfectly fine , and with the Eibach Pro kit- even Eibach says its alright to use stock shocks with the Pro springs (it will save you some $).

The other great suspension part I'd recommend is a rear-anit sway bar = $140-$160 (TRD, Hotchkis, Progress) , thats what will help you handle like your on rails (plus the springs, its a dynamic duo).

What kind of drop were you looking for?
That will go along way into which set up you want to go with.

I went with the Tein basic coil-overs. I like it, but with my 18" wheels I get some rubbing issues with the drop i have it set at. and yes, get the rear anti sway bar (i went progress) and a front strut tower bar as well.

Coil-overs are nice, but again its a $800+ dollar investment ... not everyone wants to spend that kinda dough on a drop / suspension mod. . If you know what drop you want to go with, get that spring set = $100-150(used possibly) , or $150-200 new. Thats a fairly large price difference, IMO.

For most people, a 1.5"-1.8" drop is sufficant , not having to go 2"+ (then you need a camber kit, extra install $, etc.). That way, depending upon your roads where you live, there wont be really much/any chance of bottoming out if you hit a knarly pot-hole, bad dips in the road, etc.

Dont forget this thread:

I still vote highly for Eibach Pro(progressive spring rate) , or Tein S-tech(linear spring rate). My .02 for what its worth

1.5" is best, since I am running on 17s. Or? My bf seems to think I should invest in the entire suspension kit by Tein, which runs almost 1k. Seems excessive if all I am doing is driving.

Reasonable. That's where I hope to stay. How much more for the coil overs?

If I go used tho, I will try to get a full kit, not just the springs. And it seems most people agree, Progress rear sway bar FTW! Anyone know of someone selling?

good luck finding someone who actually wants to get rid of their progress rear sway, haha. I think everyone loves them to much to let them go.

What about tower strut bars? Any tips about how to shop for those?

To be honest, they are more "show" with no go
I have a TRD front strut brace.... might be coming off at some point to sell.

Now, the front chasis H-brace is pretty good, can be had for $50 on ebay(I think still), which helps reduce flex on the front end of the car(which is where the large majority of the weight of the car is- engine/tranny, etc.).

I have heard that the strut bar does nothing for the front, but I didn't know about he H-brace. Gonna look into that. I want a solid suspension, one that works together well.

The H-brace isn't so much a suspention component, it just helps make the front end of the chasis more secure/ solid, helps handling slightly. People who track there cars will def. invest in one, the casual commuter may/may not go for it.

The Megan ... and I believe one other maker of the H-brace charge like $150-200 ... which is kinda outa control, considering what it is, and the fact that even for commuter, they will occationally hit things in the roadway , which will scrap the thing up over the 1000's of miles.

If you offer the seller like $23-25 .. they will take it + shipping = $50 :

I have the Eibach SportLines (2" drop)
Progress anti-sway

that's it.
Like some of the other folks, I don't really fall for the strut braces. They just seem too spindly to do anything. For the trailer queen crowd, they seem to require a short ram intake & a strut bar.

But as for suspension, go with the Sportlines. They're progressive rate, which means they start off with a soft rate so they're not harsh & ramp up so they don't bottom out. They're also designed to work with your factory dampers. I don't think anybody else makes that claim.

The anti-sway really perks up the handling. On a front drive car, stiffen up the rear to make it turn better. If you don't believe me, try it on Gran Turismo...

Id get the front and rear set from hoskins(SP?) The front one is fun to put in, but man, you can make the rear slide out on hard corners. Makes it easy to drift off a highway ramp

Wish I was getting a refund, I made too much and paid too little plus my commissions were not withheld for tax at one job like they do at my other job.
