Default [Help] Changing Differential Fluid

Hello,

I am having a problem with finding the correct information. I wanted to change my differential oil gear but I can not find ANYWHERE which gear oil it uses.

That being said closest I have come is that the service manual shows a picture that it might share the same oil as the transmission 75-90.

Could some verify if the Differential oil is 75-90 and does it share the same fluid as the transmission?

Thanks

You talking to me???

If so, read my post again...

I cant believe that the manual uses 75w-90 gear lube in the trans, i would think they would use ATF....

To lazermule: you better believe there's a difference between oil used in a manual vs automatic!

to pappmaster... your manual should give you spec numbers if you look in the next column of your manual (they may look like JW7590, or something along those lines). If you type those numbers into google it should come up with places to buy it and product info. If it says 75-90, then use it as it's a specific type gear oil for your car. I believe the diff and trans share the same fluid, but call a toyota dealer and speak to the service rep. In the "old" days, the differential used 80/90 as did the manual transmissions. The automatics used ATF and still do, albeit different types.

Oh, most definately use 75/90 if that is what it says. I've just worked on a lot of sticks that used ATF.
