Default 2004 Scion xA automatic

So I did a fluid change at about 145k took it on a road trip from Michigan to Colorado did some driving through the mountains and made it home no problem about 2 weeks later
I was driving going about 55 slowed down to make a turn went to give it the gas and it wouldn't move, if I rev it up to 4k it will move very very slowly it's almost like it's stuck in a higher gear?

I need help figuring this out.

Have you checked the level of the automatic transmission fluid (ATF)? While you're at it, how does it smell? Burned and brown is very bad.

I checked it again today it's not low but it's very dark It looks like maybe there's clutch material in it

Called the local Toyota dealer today... That was a mistake lol they quoted me at 3600 bucks. I laughed at her, they won't rebuild it for me. How hard of a job is this gonna be?

Rebuilding an automatic transmission isn't cheap. Pulling one out of a front wheel drive car isn't one of my favorite jobs. (A rear wheel drive transmission is much easier to get out.) My guess is about $2,500 is as good as it's going to get. Do some checking around and see if a local shop you can trust will do better on price. Or, you could try finding a junkyard transmission and having somebody install it for you.
