Aem bypass Valve BROKE!
Just thought i would share... my CAI bypass valve just broke yesterday before i went out to lunch. I went out to go eat, and i heard a loud sucking noise... I pop the hood and I see that my CAI has seperated at the bypass valve... No biggie I figure, i'll just loosen the clamp, push everything back together, and re-tighten the clamp..
In the process of opening the clamp, some plastic from the inside of the bypass valve breaks off and falls into the lower portion of the intake tubing...
So now it's about 98 degrees in the straight noon sun in chatsworth. ca where i work, and I have to get out the jack, and get under the box to remove the lower section of the intake tubing, and pull the filter, so i can turn my CAI into a pseudo short ram... grrr.... Oh, did I mention that I have a sinus infection and I've been running a 100 degree fever, and I happen to be wearing black slacks and a dark shirt?
So after about 15 min more of that, I get the lower section of tubing out, pop off the filter, and add it to the top section of pipeing. 5 min later, I am all set, everything is reconnected, ecu is reset, and I am covered in grease and pebbles from the parking lot, sweating like a pig and smelling like a pirate, ready to go back inside to impress the office ladies with my man-stank..
After driving home i notice that my intake air temp went up on average by 40 degrees, and the box drags a$$... At least i can say that I am getting better mpg while i try to get a new bypass valve..
