Air/Fuel Mixture Rich
I have a K&N Typhoon CAI. When I start my car it seems to smell like gas. I guess the mixture of Air/Fuel is too rich. Is there something I can do to fix this without going into the dealership or a shop. Could it be that my filter is too dirty?
dude... i have a K&N Typhoon CAI in my TC too, and i don't have this problem... your machine have the "check engine" light on?... maybe one of the EGR hoses are disconnect... and that's the smell...the problem that mmy machine have is in the morning take like 10sec. to start the engine...
It's not the filter it's not the CAI but it must be a defective connection in the fuel system
go back to the dealer and belch fire... politely
AF ratio is managed today by electronics. They won't let you have a too-rich mixture.
If the engine were cold-cranked for many seconds but does not start then, yeah, I think I'd be smelling fuel.
Sounds much more than likely that a dealer mechanic made some small error.
belch gas at them...po-light-lee

i came across a tC not too long ago that i noticed had black smoke (too rich) coming out the exhaust when he got on it, so i followed him when he pulled into a gas station and told him what i saw, and he had just put in an AEM CAI and had no CEL either..........
when you first start the 'cold' car the emissions (o2 sensors and Cat) are not up to operating temp.
it runs in a closed loop and will smell like its rich...
after things get up to temp, the system goes into its mappings (open) and the smell should go away.
