did you unbolt it from the hub yet?, or are you just trying to pull them from the tranny housing?

use a pry bar to get them out, just pry between the end and the housing and they will pop right out, its just a snap ring on the end that holds them in

As a matter of fact you can use a 30MM, 12 point socket ro remove that nut. I bought mine from Craftsman for about 5 bucks. All you need to do is unstake the axle nut and then you can remove it with the socket.

i take it that you just bought a 30mm chrome socket and not an actual impact axle socket, granted they will work till the thing blows apart on you, ive seen it happen

I didn't use a single impact tool to replace my clutch. I used all 1/2 inch drive sockets and did it all by hand. The axle nut is only held on with 152 lb.ft. of torque so it was really easy to get off.
