Default Crankshaft position sensor gunked up with oil

I think I finally found the source to my P0012 error code. I noticed that what appears to be my Crankshaft Position Sensor (i think) was all gunked up with oil when I was changing my brakes this morning.

Is it sufficient to just replace the sensor itself and how about the harness? Has anyone had the same experience?
