DIY YDR Intake install
Now for whatever reason he is not showing the same filter that came with mine. The one i received was a very nice conical k&n style. The pipe was heavy duty and the welds were very nice as well. came with every peice that this install showed. matter of fact it was an identical install. very nice peice. Trust me guys, I wouldn't lie to you.
There is plenty of room for the whole K&N filter. It sits about 6-8 inches away from the fog lights and below the headlight. I have seen guys remove the fog light cover to create a 'ram' air effect. Photos of this ride show the filter seen through the fog light opening. Filter can be viewed from below, look up behind the bumper cover.
I have the OEM Fog Lights and have plenty of room for the intake.

After installing my YDR intake in May 2006, the included hose from the pipe to the manifold is developing cracks. Anyone notice it? I also notice that my oil is a bit darker than I ever saw it. Not sure if anything is related to the other.
Thank you very much for the instructions... for someone who is new to engine mods its very exact and with pretty pictures helps a lil too haha... I just ordered a AEM intake yesterday so I will be using this for my installation. Thanks again!

Thanks for this great post. It inspired me to pick up a Bomz intake (since I couldnt find a YDR). Got it installed today and its amazing. Driving my xb on the highway is so much fun. I didnt think it would make such a difference but it deffinetly does. Id recommend one to anyone who is remotely interested.
Wonder if this is the YDR pipe.

Doesn't appear to include a filter though...
