Default echo ecu swap

been researching an echo ecu swap...if anyone has done it, does the car run as if it had the original ecu in it? do you loose abs? does it just plug right in? i'd like to have the echo ecu for tunability purposes. btw i've got an xa(no vsc).

From what ive heard you loose traction and ABS, but it does plug and play. I was thinking of using this ECU with a piggy-back on my turbo setup because its a 32bit ECU rather than a 64bit ECU (like ours). Which means that it's not a learning computer, so whatever piggy-back is installed it wont have a battle between ECU and Piggy-back.

sounds good to me guess i gotta learn some breaking techniques and become a Human ABS like in Initial D and as far as traction control goes i guess it would b like driving cars without TRAC

Okay, are the wiring diagrams the same? 2000 Echo ECU and the xB 05 ECU?

Not only are the diagrams different... but the connectors are ENTIRELY different.

If anyone can find a 2000 echo to Xb pigtail connector... I'll owe you a case of beer!

The 2003+ echo I believe shares the same connector shape... but the wiring schematic may be different.

a 2001 echo ecu plugs rite up. you will loose your abs, stability control, traction control, A/C, and your radiator fan will stop working. first you need the wiring diagram. 1st run a toggle switch to the fan. 2nd hardwire the A/C . after that your good you will need a scanguage or a water temp guage to monitor the water temps. the best thing about it the echo ecu is its like a p28 for all you honduh guys. 16bit no fuzzylogic

Greddy sells the replacement piggyback harness for the 04-05 xB. You could pick it up, cut off the Greddy leads and rewire it to your hearts content without damage to the factory harness if you have the Echo wiring diagram. When I called it ran around $70, don't know why boomslang is asking so much for the blank one. I have an 06 xB but do have the 05 wiring diagram. If you send the echo one I could match up how you'd need to rewire it to hopefully keep A/C, fan, etc.
