if interested put in a starlet motor from Japan. it's a direct bolt on but it's a 1.3l turbo motor. Output is 150ps...so roughly 145hp.

the turbos on those starlet motors are easy to upgrade. . . it's actually in interesting prospect. I believe they've done it to a few vitz's in Japan.

I thought about it, and it isn't that expensive, but...I just thinking I got the car only 1k miles ago, and I got a full factory warranty doesn't make me feel good about redoing the wiring on this yet.

I rather put in a 1.3l starlet motor over the 1zz, since this is smaller and has more potential. I have heard of 170 whp from a turbo starlet motor with minor upgrades...that's a RSX/Si eater and in the ball park of a WRX eater.

ever hear of a trd supercharged 1zz? more hp than that . well with header , full exhaust and some tweaking/tuning. and it's a practically new motor and i can guarrantee you if you did the swap right could be california legal.

yeah. . . it'd be pricier than the starlet motor. But for all out, you'd probably have to go with larger displacement. For "bang for the buck," 1.3 turbo ain't bad.

i saw the 1zz inside the echo...and it looks to have absolutly no more room for turbo or supercharger...so you can only go all motor...lol back to my lightweight turbo ideal....and maybe convert to 4wd like in japan...lol

i don't believe it is a direct bolt on. who told you that, new mounts will have to be made.

Default my scion want 2 b fast too

Hello, My name is Jason and I bought a 2005 Scion xB last year...

I WANT IT TO BE FASTER!

From what i've read in this post that may not be entirely possible, but I don't know a lot about cars and upgrading them so I was hoping someone could help me learn.

Money IS NOT an issue. I have already put an additional 16,000 into my xB's looks, features and alarm from the original 14,000 the car cost. (In otherwords i spent 30,000 on a 14,000 dollar car) Now that the car has everything I want other than speed I need to know what all I can do to make it fast. It is the Manual Transmission model (5-Speed). What types of engine compartment mods can I do, how fast is feasible for this car, and what price range am I talking?

I would like to keep it between 5,000 and 10,000 more but above 10k wouldn't be a big issue... Any Ideas??? (Other than buy a Viper!) I want a fast Toaster so I can put the "You Just Got Beat By a Toaster" sticker on the back window :^Þ

P.S. This will for now be a daily driver as well, i want a fast 1/4 mile time while still being able to drive daily untill i buy a cheapy for that.... or maybe a c class mercedes, but either way is it possible to have a fast daily driver?

Don't waste your money with 1/4 miles times. Driving in a straight line gets boring fast. Instead, shoot for autocross. Fun-er (IMO), more challenging and overall the box can be set up ideal for this vs. 1/4. Coilovers, new shocks, sway bars, frame braces, short shifter(manual), shift kit (auto), 7-9psi turbocharger and the parts to fully tune and run the turbo correctly is all you need to really put down some great times. 120-140whp is all you need. My mods to date has given me some really good times with my box.

Take care and good luck.

ah yes but there is more room up front for the s/c on an xb. the grill area is wide open whereas there is no such area like that on an echo.

Road Track, not road race. Autocross at designed events, not in parking lots.

Drag for life? Thats up to you. Personally i have found im bored with 1/4. Theres only so much you can do until you have everything down to an art. Sure it takes some skill with launches and shifting, but thats about it.

what the hell did you spend $20,000 on and have no power mods, and now suddenly be totally concerned with living your life a quarter mile at a time (that saying never gets old)
I'll tell you what will make your car rediciously fast.
1) Ditch the $14000 stereo system
2) Ditch the $6000 chrome rims

If he really wants to make the box fast, this is how you make the box..FAST.

1. Remove all air condition parts.
2. Remove all panels, rear seats, replace front seats and bracets with light weight seats and bracket material.
3. Custom carbon fiber body kit and panels.
4. Replace all windows with JDM light weight windows. (forget the company who makes it. Someone on here had them but i forgot who it was)
5. Remove all stereo speakers, head unit.
6. P/E Supercharger or custom Turbo set up
7. Custom exhaust from header to tip using light weight materials. (most aftermarket set ups are light weight anyway)
8. Light weight wheels.
9. Remove spare tire, remove window wiper and remove window wiper motor.

You will be extremely light weight and have 130whp at least with a s/c and mods to go with it. With a turbo you could probably push around 145whp. You would weight im sure in the 1,500lbs range if not less.

if you really want a scion, and are looking for speed, you will not find it in an xa or xb. I suggest getting a tC. The best scion of all.

you would be better off with a 1zz due to compression (had an matrix xrs) although lift is cool
