Default Exhaust mods

Hey wassup everyone. This is my first post, just got registered a few days ago. I wanna get a complete exhaust system for my xA, Intake, Header, straight pipe to the back and a good sounding and flowing exhaust. I just dont know where to start. For one im a muscle car guy. Just cant afford the muscle car insurance anymore. My question is about how much am i lookin at for a complete system? I want good performance out of it, but without costing too much. Also i dont want it to sound ricey. If it ends up sounding like a honda i will be really ____ed lol. I'm new to this import stuff, but i'm already lovin the Scion community. I went to the Scion Exposed in the Meadowlands, and i had more fun than any other muscle car show i ever went to. So as a muscle car guy i have to of course start with performance. lol i just dont think it'll be wise or possible to throw on BBK headers X-pipe and flowmasters on the xA. So someone help!

-look into the k&n typoon for intake. ~160
-for a header i would go with the megan racing header from ebay(its just a stainless steel rip off of the dc sports header) ~130
-go find a muffler shop in your area to fab you some 2' or 2.25' piping from the header back depending on the shop you go to and the materials you use the price will vary, but you shouldnt get charged anymore than lets say 350.

now the sound of your car will vary greatly from the muffler you use. do some research and ask around on a quiet muffler.

GOOD LUCK!

I was lookin into the Injen and the K&N. I heard the Injen puts the most HP, and the K&N not too far behind on price and in HP. How close is the HP gains and overall performance gains with the bootleg DC and real DC? I bought a bootleg flowmaster for my old mustang and it sounded like a flowmaster, but the HP gains were off by about 7HP. So about how close is the performance? I'd rather dish the extra bucks if im gonna get actual HP out of it. As far as the muffler im still up in the air about it. Havent heard manyof them. Some were to ricey and others were perfect. But never knew what those were cuz they were on the road and noway to find out. If anyone has an xA with an exhaust and can somehow record it, drop me an email at Vipermf500@aol.com or even just im me at Vipermf500. I really wanna find the perfect sounding exhaust. Thanks for everything.

the difference between the megan header and dc header is not measureable on the dyno. and the k&n typoon is a better pic for the ax because the injen pulls in hotter air

So the HP between the Megan and the DC are the same then? I'm gonna have to put a halt on any upgrades for now anyway. I was on my way home last night and my front right tire blew after i hit 3 hardcore potholes in a row... The rim is pretty messed up too. Not cracked or dented, but scratched up like hell. This really blows. I got 17 inch motegi's from the dealer. Good thing is that my city pays for any damage made to a car from potholes. I gota take some pics n send it to the Jersey City City Hall office....sigh...I wont be able to drive until at best thursday or friday. Anyway, thanks for the help. Anyone else though who has an xA with exhaust if its possible drop a soudn clip or somethin!

Ya Jersey City is 1.0mile west of New York City (manhatten). So our roads are just as bad as NYC's. There's a huge campaign goin on to repave all the roads by 2008. Would have been nice if that road was paved and didnt ruin my rim. Bastards. I took some pics of it and i gota send it out on monday.... Anyway, a friend of mine said that with a good header, good intake, straight pipe and a good flowing muffler, the 1.5 can get up to 15hp from that. Is that true?
