Got a INJEN CAI and had MAF problems??
I installed a INJEN CAI and 500 miles later i got the trac lights and check engine lights. The box was also bouncing off the rev limiter at 3000 rpm. Ive read this is a pretty usual problem with the injen intake. So i tried to use my warranty to fix this but they said it wasnt going to be covered by it because it wasnt a AEM dealer installed option.. which by the way is the biggest bunch of sh*t ive ever heard (thanks servco) side by side comparsion of the two they really arent much diffrent. But neways getting to the point. i made a 150 dollar investment into a new MAF( mass airflow sensor) and tried to reinstall it back on to the intake and i noticed that a weld were the MAF goes was raised right were the diode for the MAF was. I looked again at the old MAF and noticed that the plastic surrounding the diode was bent and when installed on the intake the raised weld was causing the plastic to come in contact with the diode. which is why i guess it originally stopped working.
So if you do have a injen intake save urself 150 dollars pull off the MAF get the dremel and grind the welds inside the MAF sensor housing on the intake. But make sure you throughly clean out the metal shavings before they get sucked into that beautiful little 1.5L.

Also make sure when you install that intake tubes. make sure to wash the inside on the tubes clean becuase there is black residue all the insides that can also screw your MAF

Great service at Servco Scion but when you get to service center they screw you big time!! Looks like its time for Servco Scion Service Center?? Where Scion owner can get the same treatment as when they bought there cars!
marshall thats exactly what i was trying to say. the only reason i bought my maf without having it replaced at the service place( which if they said was definetly caused by the injen CAI i would have paid for the MAF) but when i first addressed the issue right off the bat they said that it wouldnt be covered by my warranty even before they popped my hood. You think they would do a little investigation first before they voilate any laws...( MAGNASSON-MOSS ACT) which as a consumer protects my right to the stated warranty. which if they can prove with 100% with out a doubt that the non-dealer installed part caused the specific malfunction. I would have pushed the issue but i think servco alleviates there responsibilty by 1. making the customer wait for excessive time. in my case my car wouldnt run so i went to the dealership to schedule a service after talking to a sales rep i didnt get a call for two whole days before they called back making me an appointment 3 weeks... 3 WEEKS!!! so in addition to the 2 days i was carless i would have to wait another 21 days to even get my vehicle looked at. so lets do the math if i were to have to rent a car it would have costed me atleast 150 dollars times three weeks. Obviously way cheaper to just fork over the money to the service dept and get the part and just do it myself... (the service dept's gotta eat too right) 2. they completely take advantage of people because they try and not acknoledge your right as a consumer.. im not saying its on purpose but if i dont sell cars and know the specific rights the feds give me maybe just maybe servco could spend alittle time and get there people up to speed.
I also thinks its utter bullsh*t that they wont touch modified cars since as the commercial says " SCION WITH 40 PLUS ITEMS TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR CAR" hey guys guess what "customize"=modified. so maybe just maybe since you try so hard to sell your "customized" parts for your vehicles you actually might try and understand what your selling to the consumer. So change your commercial to "40 plus items to ruin, destroy, void, obliterate, and burn your warranty, so all that money we save you, you can keep it and use it for those times your car is not running and we make you wait three weeks so eventually you'll just have to do the work yourself.
p.s. im not whining i understand the inherent risk of altering a vehicle, just trying to let you know whats gonna happen when you do...thanks
HEY MARSHALL MAKE THIS A STICKY THIS BRO!!!!

Can you explain or post pics of the welds that need to be ground down on the MAF sensor housing on the Injen CAI. I just got a Injen IS and I'm wondering if there is the same problem on the short rams. Just got my new xB and I don't want to have to change the MAF anytime soon.
How much do the welds need ground down?

Why didn't you just put the stock stuff back on and go to another dealer?
The only way this would become problematic would be if you are out of town and the MAF bites the dust.
I'm still wondering what welds need to be ground down to avoid fouling the plastic surrounding the diode. Anyone have a picture?
