Default Grinding now..No Gears..

Need advise on tranny issue. ...

I loaned out my car and when it came back all gears grind so I came right back. Now finding won't go into any gear.

My mechanic says someone must have forced it into 1st from 5th? Grind gears off?

Drain the fluid and see if it's chunky? Sounds like someone didn't know how to drive manual.. Might be needing some significant compensation from whoever you loaned it to.

My mechanic friend did drain it and it has lots of metel in it. Is there anything besides the tranny that it could mess up?

Your clutch is probably fried too, but the root cause would appear to be somebody who had no idea how to drive a manual transmission messing it up. I'd be having a serious conversation with whomever you loaned it to because this is going to be a several thousand dollar repair bill.

Sounds like a new transmission is in your future.. Hopefully there is not any additional damage done to the vehicle but from how badly destroyed your transmission is.. might want to have the whole car looked over just to be sure.
