Default high shifting points on A.T.

I've got a question:

The other day my GF and I test drove an xA. It had an A.T. On the freeway onramp she floored it, and kept her foot down. I was amazed to see the tach climb all the way up to near redline in 3rd gear before it shifted.

Heres the question:
Do all the scion A.T.s do that if you keep it floored? If so in all gears or just the higher ones.
I'm assuming the xA & xB autos are 4-speeds.

Anybody have a good enough knowledge of the A.T. to know what all the shift points are when floored?

Yes they are all 4 speeds, and the shift points are directly related to your foot (except when the car is cold) I have 215,000 miles on the stock automatic and do not baby it in any shape or form. Change the fluid and filter once and a while and you are good to go. I didn't go manual on this car because of the miles that were going to be racked up in stop and go and this tranny has worked great. Also I would have went through at least a clutch or two if it was a manual!

71K miles on my 05 AT and I drive it like a bat out of hell. Never had a single problem with the tranny.

that is what all automatic transmissions are supposed to do. if your flooring it, you are saying you want to accelerate as fast as possible, so it will shift at the highest point possible so it gets the most power when it upshifts.

Agree. Nice clear statement.
And if it didn't do just that there would be all sort of posts complaining about "flooring my xA, and it shifts at 4or 5K & Why doesn't it go to redline?" It is just trusting what the driver is telling it by the pressure on the gas pedal. If the driver lies to it, it can't tell. It is just a $15K car, and it does not do brain scans to try to find out what the driver really wants it to do.
The xA, xB, and tC's are all trusting automobiles, and they just try to do what the driver tells it, through the gas pedal pressure.
Love to be able to push it to redline occasionally, just by flooring it. It's FUN!

Well I owned a 2002 Honda accord V6 with auto. I don't ever remember it climbing to redline in all gears when floored.
