Intake install problems. MAF sensor related

All I have to add is What brand intake and what size tubeing is it made out of?
My first attempt at building a "Home made intake" was a disaster,Anything much over 2" tube it would run as if the MAF was disconected It would run good as long as the MAF was centered in a 2"tube then everything before could be 2 1/2" or bigger.
