IS2100 Injen Intake on XA
Does anybody know if the IS2100 Injen Shortram intake will fit on the XA. According to the Injen Website the IS2100 is for the XB and the IS2105 is for the XA. I do not want to get the IS2105 because it looks like it sucks in hot air with the filter being right next to the engine.
You should take a look at the Intake Shootout thread in the Power section, it should have all your answers there :D

And no, the IS2100 will not fit the xA.

No, the IS2100 is for the xB only due to the differences in the engine bays. I was going to get IS2105 and add the heat shield to the side of the filter nearest the exhaust manifold. But then again, if you have a ceramic coated header and a fresh air duct leading to the filter, it should be good. Just something I was looking at for when my xA arrives.
Air heats up very quick...
Once that metal tubing is in the engine bay it will soak all the heat from the engine bay... weither it is cold air or short ram...
it doesnt take much to heat up air... as the air passes through the intake tubing it will reach the same tempreture at the throttle body weither it is a cold air or a short ram... there maybe a few degree's different but not much....
I put a Short Ram on my girlfriends xA... She loves it... It sounds great and does perform... She felt a difference which is cool...
Here is something I posted in another thread...
My take on Cold Air intakes vs Short Ram intakes...
It doesnt take much to heat up air... So, while you have metal piping that is soaking up heat it is also heating the air inside... So no matter what length of intake tubing you have by the time the air reaches the throttle body it is already heated up to a warmer tempreture...
So what I look for in an intake system is not only the design but also the length of the tubing... the longer the tubing the harder the motor has to work to suck in the air... Short Ram intakes usually perform better when it comes to this...
Now on the Dyno its another story...
YOu typically have fans that are blowing air not too fast around the car... The colr air intakes place the filters out side of the engine bay so the air from the these fans hit them easier...
In every day driving, the air that passes by the cold air intake filters is usually fast and turbulant... Making it harder for the intake to draw air into the filter (in most cases of cold air intake design, some filters are placed in less-turbulant areas and those perform better on the road)...
Short ram intakes the filter is generally placed where air moves around but is not too turbulant so the intake can easly draw air into the filter... These opperate more effectiantly in every day driving especially at high speeds...
So some times Cold Air Intkes make more on the Dyno... but Short Rams make more on the Butt-Dyno...
Just my take......
