just installed an echo ecu...
i dont know about the abs, but honestly i dont care, vsc and trac get in my way, abs, eh, i will check it out the next time it rains, but the abs light isnt on, just the trac and vsc...
hahaha, i hit some ice at the apex of an on ramp during the winter, hahaha, that was fun, as i was countersteering and enjoying my sideways trip, i got to listen to the beep beep beep, even though it was disabled because of a cel... with the echo ecu i doubt it will even beep, though i havent driven it enough to find out yet...
Waiting for more details. I already have the Greddy charger and piggyback. Plus, I removed the steering wheel to put in a sport one. There is actually another small ECU around the steering wheel shaft, when unplugged, shuts off the VSC and TRAC. So losing those isn't a big deal.
All right I am in the middle of making me a stainless turbo manifold. My ride is a 01/06 says the sticker in the door jam. If I have the OBII I can switch out my ecu and put in the echo ecu??? Then run a piggy back!!! I am soooo there till I can aford 2 G's for a stand alone. One question did that bad ground you had cause it to miss or some thing? Or did it through on your check engine light. I have mine coming on speradicaly and every time I take it to the deeller it goes off. I still dont know what it is. Its not the gas cap!!! LOL
Well what an interesting find especially since I'm wrapping up my turbo project on my xA this may prove to be quite handy!!
As an aside, I checked the electrical diagram for the 2005 Scion xA and none of the pinouts are connected to the ABS system particularly since the xA does not have a VSC system.
Time to get me an Echo MT ECU

funny you should say that, i got my echo ecu from canada... the bad ground i had caused it to do all sorts of wacky stuff. as far as the cel i throw, it is from a "bad speed sensor" but only when the piggy back is plugged in which leads me to believe there is just a weak connection in the harness... so you have an 06 xb... eh, i think the pins might be different than the 05 and 04s...
