hmmm. to make everything simple..

MORE AIR + MORE FUEL = MORE POWER

so.... MORE AIR = MORE FUEL

That works I suppose..

Personally for me, I know a couple of people will agree wtih this, the sound the engine makes at WOT, makes us step on the gas more.

I'm thinking of installing the intake, but I have a quick question. What did you do with the sensor that is hooked up to the airbox? Also is that sensor needed?

Thanks, Ozzy

MAF? Theres a space for it in the intake. The other little box get hooked a piece of L shaped metal. Good luck trying to get that to fit. I tie wrapped mine.........

STYLIS I can get the injen intakes now for about 160-165...

Yes but...more power can mean the engine works less to do the same amount of work as before...IOW, it does the same amount of work more efficiently. This can increase MPG. Remember, you haven't increased engine displacement or modified the motor in any way other than to bolt on a freer flowing intake (and exhaust?) system. However, and as you mentioned, more power usually means someone has their foot to the floor, lookin' for more -- and MPG goes to hell.

Most likely I'll be there since i work 10 mins away. Hopefully I'll have the extra cash to put down too.

No dyno on the intake. In all honestly, I don't think that swapping intakes out is going to make a HUGE difference. The power difference between intakes, exhausts and headers etc. isn't a big deal. I know for a fact someone who has I/H/E on this board will get spanked by someone else who only has a intake in a stoplight confrontation, if the person with just a intake is that much of a better driver.. Now freeway races or from a roll races are of course going to be a different story.

and no i dont street race....anymore that is..

so installing an intake would have a negative effect on mpg?

sorry for the Q...
my injen intake has increased my millage significantly(3-5mpg) as long as my wife is driving that is. when i drive i like to keep it in that 4k+ sweet spot because the power/sound differnce is noticible and great!. so thats what i think komplex meant i terms of losing millage. the intake make you want to use this newfound power to the detriment of fuel economy.

Yes typically, if you drive grandma style and open up the motor with new breathing untensils, you should actually be getting better gas mileage. That is a push and pull question again for the masses, because everyone says more air = more fuel. I think more power = heavier foot.

With the intake I have and the manifold back system I am still in the 30s for MPG. Of course when i punch it, say good bye to the gas.
