Its great! Noticeable difference in response. Its a loud intake, which makes the car sound powerful, and it comes from a reputable company. Its also dirt cheap, so get one.

I recently installed that unit. I notice no difference in performance or sound until RPM's 5K +. However, I feel way cooler!

ok

I have that set-up on my box and I love the responce I have going up hills. I don;t have to down shift as much anymore, the box can breath a lot easier. The sound is freaking awesome too, makes that exhaust growl at high rpms. :D

You brain is also in your butt dyno. Take a look at the throttle body, then look at the stock intake. Now how is it going to make a difference using a different intake when the TB is already so much smaller? The stock intake is already more than capable of providing enough intake for the restrictive TB, so whats the point of changin it?
You people need to think before you waste your money on things that don't work

so what you are trying to say that an intake doesnt add any horsepower and its a waste of money to give your car a lil more power? i bought cause it was cheaper than the other cold air intakes out there for the car, street legal, looks better than the stock intake, i like the deep sound...and you get an increase of horsepower/torque across your whole powerband.

-if you wanna see a small throttle body you should see the one in a crx hf....its a hell of a lot smaller than the one in the xb and ive even seen a dyno of it where an intake added a couple of horsepower...it wasnt bad for a 20 dollar ebay intake and i was surprised to see even a couple horseower gain out of a 60 something horseower engine.

Prove it. Show that the stock unit is not capable of flowing enough air.
Just look at the TB requirements for flow and then see what the stock intake is capable of flowing.
Change the intake for sound and looks... but I wouldn't expect any gains.
All I ever hear is anecdotal evidence. Dyno results would be worthless as the variance betweens runs is fairly wide. A measurement on aq flow bench would prove its worth. But just looking at the stock TB and intake is enough to understand where the weak link is

your the one saying that the stock intake is adequate...so you porve it, i dont have to prove a damn thing when CAIs and short ram intakes have been dynoed and proven to add horsepower over stock...

-i understand that you cant expect too much to come out of this engine and i dont wanna go into too much details of whats restrictive and what could be better and what not, if i wasnt bound by smog laws i would turbo this car, but this guy asked for comments on a K&N typhoon intake and i gave my comments cause i OWN one. if you want make another thread in this forum and see what others say about engine restrictions and what not, then go right ahead.

yeah, but ive been down that road b4 with my ol CRX and having to go to the smog referee a couple times sucks....plus if it aint legal, then i dont wanna deal with it. cops have freaking been cracking down on racers the last couple years and they actually know whats not suppose to be in your car....especially if they see a shiny front mount intercooler. ...thats how they got me...LOL

K&N advertises 8hp gain on the xB, and 4.3hp gain on the xA: How does that work out, I thought they were the same engine?

I already did prove it. Just look at the diameter of the stock TB, now look at the intake, figure in filter area, etc... now prove me wrong. You only think it works cause you spent moeny on one and can't see the forest for the trees... don't be ____ed at me. Research and figure it out

Their marketing dept says lots of things. Ask them for bench flow rates vs stock and requirements for this application. I bet I know what you will get for an answer, silence.

the gains from an intake on our cars are very minimal, i definatly felt some gainage from the injen short ram at higher rpms, plus if you get other mods it helps, not much but it helps

it has been documented and dyno proven in publications (not the pamplets from the manuf. and the BS dyno plots) that the XB and XA both benefit from the K&N but im sure any coldair would benefit them....for one the air your getting is more dense in turn providing some more power but flow is a very important thing and the stock unit is very ineffective as far as that goes the TB is small but a steady flow of unturbulant cold air will benefit it none the less........ here is a R&D dyno testing the NON OEM aem cold air ( kinda similar to the k&n design ) and it shows alomst 6hp gains http://importtuner.com/tech/0406it_ppscion oh and MCbain i think you said to prove it right?.... next time dont be a d*ck about things
