Ouch!

Sorry to hear the bad news.

Glad to hear that you are ok and it will be covered under warranty.

While the replacement engine is out are you going to paint the block chocolate brown and tan?

well i got the car back! all under warranty as promised. they attributed it to a faulty oil pump. the block had 4 bent valves, broken valve guides, and a hole or 2 in it. i have the receipt right next to me.

cyyclopse dude i sooo wish i could have haha :D

well glad to here it was under warranty as a mechanical issue and not something else that they wouldn't cover.

unless your intake sucks in a a TON of water off of a puddle you will be hard pressed to hydrolock it. A mist of water is basically water injection and serves to lower combustion temps. i have driven my ram which is bagged and rides about 1" off the ground and ive taken it on the highway in heavy rain going to shows and it was fine. BTW i have no inner fenders and my engine was soaked.

Glad to hear Toyota took care of you! I think it's funny that so many people have turned this into a hydrolock debate. This thread had nothing to do with hydrolock. Oyyy...anyway enjoy your new innards to your box!

It has to do with hydrolock because that is a plausible explanation for what happened, more so than an oil pump. Hydrolock is instant and catastrophic, like what happened, while lubrication failure is a slower seizure accompanied by a temperature rise. But the warranty does not cover hydrolock caused by the owner's CAI. To warranty the repair, a faulty oil pump is needed.
