Default Nobody struck OIL after PULLY install......

Perrin Pully was installed and performed well for about 3 months, it still works well, but I noticed a few drips of oil on my garage floor. There is oil all over the suspention parts and the oil pan. The dealer checked it out and confirmed that it was not the oil pan as I had been told by another garage. They looked at the pully and said that the seal MIGHT be no good.
I will be watching for more leaking. The seal is $26 and the install is $176. I don't know what to think because the pully install went well. The pin was O.K. and the pully fit fine. I just learned that perhaps, I should torque the pully bolt to 144lbs.

Has anyone had any oil leak problems after installing a light weight pully? NOT ME!!

Edited title from Anybody strike oil after PULLY install....

Default ....Who knows what is is?....

Can the belts be TOO TIGHT?
Might that cause a crank pully seal to eventually leak?
Any thoughts or suggestions?

yes a beltl could be too tight. not sure if that would cause the seal to go but its more likely that it would diminish the life of the belt. it could possibly damage a seal.

Default Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named CHET...

Nobody struck oil! The slow leak was fxed, it was an 'OIL CONTROL VALVE'.
Replaced under warranty at no cost to me. The part needed to be over-nighted and they installed it after examination and diagnosis. All fixed, this is the first time I have ever got a repair performed under a car's warranty. Good cars, a 1990 Chevy/GEO Toyota Prism/Carolla and my 2005 XB.
This slight leak resulted in a total of 20 drips of oil onto my garage floor over a three month period. So many people would not have even known about a leak that slow. People who park in the street might never know about a leak that slow.
So, all is well. I will watch for any leakage.
I looked on the fiche and could not find 'OIL CONTROL VALVE'
The repair manual shows a Camshaft Timing Oil Control Assy. That must be it.
