small comment on this old post, notice when your engine is cold, and you get going, your engine wont shift into the highest gear until the engine is warmed up, its a pollution thing i learned at UTI, pay atention one morining, youll be suprised when your engine shifts late, whole point, your ECU thinks the engine is cold, the engine will never shift up???

These resitor box mods don't tell the computer that the engine is cold, they tell the computer that the air in the intake tube is colder than it really is. The colder the air the more dense it is, and the more fuel you need to have a proper fuel to air mixture. The factory ECU has a base program that it goes off of that says "x" amount of air at this tempurature gets "y" amount of fuel. This mod causes the computer to give more fuel than is needed for proper combustion. It may give a very minor increase in power at WOT, but it waste more fuel than it is worth. It could also lead to engine problems as stated above such as fouled plugs and burned up cat. Save your money for a header and cold air intake kit, you will be much more satisfied in the long run.

Plus, if an engine is running too rich you can wash the oil off your cylinder walls and ruin your compression.

Actually when you install this chip into the MAF sensor it only tells the ecu the incoming air is colder, then as a result the ecu increases the fuel and advances timing
a little ( 2-3 degrees)

after a few on/off cycles the ecu reads it as normal, shuts off extra fuel and retards the timing back to "normal"

They work, for a little while, it does no real harm to motor or ecu. no more than say running a piggy back system ( that cost more ) and get the same results...

work for awhile, ecu corrects, and your back at square 1
