Default Problem starting lately?

Lately an odd thing has been happening....ill get into the car and it just cranks for a while then finally starts...cranks for a good 3-5 sec...I have approx 2300miles and its happened 2 times in the last two days...

Not sure what it could be...im leaning towards maybe the fuel pump is acting up? Any suggestions?

Maybe the battery is dying.

I would say that if you start replacing anything, try to go for the cheaper stuff first before you just jump to something like a fuel pump. But you could be right...

Any other noises?

No not that I can tell....the battery checks out as good...I might take it in for the issue if it persists...just wanted to know if others have this problem.

It can be tons of things

Bad battery, cold weather, bad cables, bad connection, loose connection, fuel line leak.

start to look for other symptoms that can be related to narrow down the problem (e.g. only happens in the morning, engine also runs rough after start up, corroded or loose terminal., etc.)

If the fuel pump is acting up, you will have driveability problems as well

If you only have 2300 miles on it, take it in. That should be covered on the warranty.

also, floor mat issue is possible... I know my mats, I need to mash the pedal to start. They are after market rubber maids, very thick...anyways, if not, 2 the dealer.

I have the same problem. Took mine back to the dealer and they could not reproduce the problem. I have recently started turning my 06 xb to the on position, waiting for the gas gauge to go up to the proper level (I also listen for the click sound, Not sure exactly what this is but It is loud enough to hear pretty easily) then I go ahead and start my xb. I have been doing it for a couple of months now and so far it seems to be working.

That is what i thought it was, but I wasn't for sure so I didn't say. I only have 3900 miles on mine so I have plenty of time to wait and see if a bigger problem shows up. I aint too worried about it at the moment!

Yeah, having low miles is great... make sure if the problem shows itself more definately, to post it. Mine has a quirk or 2, but i am at 2700, so we'll see.

This is odd.......
Yesterday I had gotten my halo's, so I decided to put them in. Took off the grill, and front bumper cover and did the headlight swap, along with horns.
While reassembling, I decided I couldn't see well enough under the car, so jacked it up so I could slide under to replace all the bolts for the cover. After I let it back down off the stands i went to start it up to back it out for final cleanup. It did what you guys are experiencing. Took 3 secs or so to start. It acted like there was no fuel pressure.
I wonder if jacking it up caused something to trip and release the pressure, like a tilt sensor or something (must suck for those in San Francisco though). I know some cars have an impact sensor that cuts off the fuel pump in case of an accident*.
Do any of you guys park at some odd angle, either front to back or side to side?

* Know someone with a '92-'95 Ford Taurus? Go smack the right rear quarter panel behind the fuel filler with the palm of your hand.
