Default Really loud valvetrain problem

Hey what's going on, well for three days now I have noticed that my valvetrain has been getting really loud! When I say it is getting loud I can hear it over my exhaust now when i am driving. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they have taken it to dealer and there was something seriously wrong. The reason I say this I got my scope out and it is coming from 7 of the 16 valves! It sounds almost as if the motor was run without oil and the lifters are sticking, and have created a mother load of wear on the tappets. Well hit me up, but it;s going to a dealer where I live tommarrow because the dealer I normally go to is like 100 miles from me and I don't want to drive down that far again. I was down there today and they said they didn't have enough time to look at it because they closed in an hour. We shall see.

What is the history? Did you buy the car new or used? How many miles? How driven? It is not likely the motor was without oil. But it could have been abused.

I bought it new, it has 17000mi on it. From 3 I have had little problems with it, clutch went out, and other things, but the valvetrain did get louder @ about 3000mi and has always been the same until now. The car doesn't get abused but does get driven hard at times, but nothing like nitrous or boost just the basics. All maintance has been done, and gets royal purple motor oil every 3k with filter. Has had the trans oil change ... I have done above and beyond on the maintance.

So it has not been without oil but it does not sound like the car has had an easy life. What mods does the car have? It may be the little engine that could, but not like the 600 HP you used to have.

intake, exhaust, header, clutch, the basics i don't drive the car hard and I have only taken it to the track 2 and that was months ago, if there was something wrong from being at the track it would have been notice back then and I normally baby the car, freeway driving.

well I got my box back today, they said that everything is fine with the engine, and that they all sound kinda like that. So I asked the guy well what did they do and he said that they checked over the entire engine and that everything is in spec. So I asked him could he find out what the valve lash clearance was from the tech and he came back and said that he was not able to find it out. I think they are full of it because the motor is knocking all of my buddies said the same thing. So I am going to have to take it down to North Hollywood to have them look at it since they are cool and don't mess around.

valve noise is nowhere near knock. and with our lifters not being able to be adjusted and them not wanting to warranty the work of adding shims it's normal. or they'll say you caused the damage.

yeah well when you kick a knock sensor code even though it is clacking it still is pretty bad. and I checked the valve lash clearance and some of them were over .010 which is pretty big I know the biggest one off had was .016 so there is something really wrong, I could tell there was some wear that did not look normal on 2 lobes so we shall see what the dealer I normally deal with says its just far, about 85 miles far.

The maintenance guide says :
"Engine Valve Clearance... Inspect for excessive lifter noise... 60,000 miles."
Maybe after 17,000 miles of spirited driving with intake, exhaust, header, and clutch mods, the engine needs an early valve adjustment.
