replacement AEM filter ruined by dealer
Morning (or whatever time zone you are in :)
Shortly after buying my 2005 xB, i found that HP was abysmal,
so had dealer install AEM cold air intake, WAY better performance.
Well it came to the magic time to clean it, and the mechanic used
the oil based K&M kit to clean and oil it.
MPG and power went down significantly, had another dealer put on the diags
to see if perm damage was done (they say within tolerances).
Am having trouble locating the originakl dry filter that I can use to replace
the ruined one. The AEM CARBEO sticker says it is a D-392-26,
and ideas what part I can use to replace?
I only have one car, so taking off the filter and driving to a store
would involve the bus. Done that, only to find all of the chain stores
have oil based K&M filters.
I noticed the number to call 310-484-2322, haven't been able to get through to them (all lines busy).
When I do get the new filter, should I take off the induction unit and clean it up of the accumulated oil form the ruined filter?
The oxygen sensor seems to be doing OK.
Thanks in advance for any of your help with this plexing problem.
