Default Space under the car for mufflers

I have a guy who does great custom exhaust work, I have had him do all my previous cars.

I want something that will free up alot of power and not sound too loud. Just a deep smooth tone, not much louder than stock.

I am thinking of replacing some of the piping between the cat and the rear axle with a magnaflow part $ 14214 2" inlet and outlet round muffler, then putting a magnaflow 14335 2.25" offset inlet/offset outlet muffler that's got a 14" case 20" overall between the axle and the bumper. Do you think these will fit?

I would hate to get it out to the shop and have it not fit.

I have a 2.25 inch Magnaflow resonator and 5x8 oval center exit exhaust underneath my xB.

You can run either of the 5x8 or 4x9 center to center mufflers, but the tow hook on the passenger side needs removal.

I've used 14832, 14814, and 14829 for axlebacks also. The race series are too loud and noticable for those of us in CA. The street series seem to have the best sound and note for my preferences.

do you have any sound clips of your exhaust? Especially while driving either in car our out of car. Personally I think the clips of people revving it in neutral all sound about the same.

I checked out that michaels mufflers site but did not see any specific info there.

Basically I want as much muffler as I can fit under the car, and I know I do not want any thing with a ID of more than 2.25.

This is my first 4 cyl car in a while, and I am trying to get away from most of the straight through "glasspack with style" type of mufflers to prevent it from being too obnoxious (at least to my ears)

I really need to get the car up into the air and plan out what I can do.

Anyone have a good underbody picture to tide me over till I can get it up in the air?

Personally, I would go with either 14832, 14814, or 14829. <~~~Magnaflow part numbers of mufflers w/ tips that fill the OEM exhaust opening nicely. Any oval will require the tow hook to be removed in my expoerience. You are correct, canister mufflers will produce a loud note and resonance inside the cabin, usually. Just like using a 14 inch glass pack as a resonator.
