If dual exhaust is louder that is cool. I dont mind loud, I am currently running my mustang gt, with an off-road H-pipe (no cats), and 2 chamber flowmasters, dumped (no tailpipes, just turned down after the mufflers). That is a very loud setup!!! I would like my xB to have some rumble and growl vs. the standard fast and furious sound.

For those wanting dual exhaust -- and wanting a performance bump as well -- start asking header manufacturers to release a header with a dual downpipe. Then you can run full dual exhaust from the header back...and it will result in a HP increase (assuming a competently designed exhaust system).

Actually, couldn't they fabricate 2 separate headers, 2 tubes each, and then each header could run its own exhaust back? You wouldn't need a Y pipe then.

Putting dual exhaust on a 4 cylinder car with a single inlet pipe makes little sense. You would have to split the stream of exhaust gas to route it to the different mufflers and/or tips, thus effectively blocking its path in order to split it apart. It's always been best to leave exhaust unrestricted for best performance, but since we can't have that on the street the next best thing is to LESSEN the blockages in the exhaust path by using a straight through style of muffler. Of course, the same is true for "dual tips" style mufflers too....they are still blocking the exhaust by putting a wall in front of it and forcing it to choose a path out. Straight through gives it no choice and is therefore free flowing. Only if you have TWO inlet pipes to the muffler area, would dual exhaust make any more power.

(stepping off soap box now)

How does the exhaust sound? Does it have a deep tone?
