Your belt is probably loose? Check the belt tension.

Sounds like your belt.

Yes I read the post above me, and your saying it wasn't your belt but it is!
Maybe the belt is tight but it is glazed making it slick? Everytime mine starts making noise I tighten it up and it goes away.

Mine squeals like mad when it's damp outside and the temperature is just above freezing. I just put up with it, since it's not that bad-- once the car runs for a few seconds, it goes away, until next time the engine is cold.

and the best way to tighten the belt up is to do what now

seems like the way i do it doesn't get it tight enough with a tire iron...

Here's the book answer:

6. ADJUST FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
(a) Insert the adjusting bar between the engine RH mount
bracket and generator. Push the bar towards the vehicle
front to adjust the V–ribbed belt tension.
NOTICE:
Do not insert the bar between the oil control valve and generator.
It could damage the oil control valve.

(b) First tighten bolt A, then tighten bolt B.
Torque:
Bolt A 19 NVm (189 kgfVcm, 14 ftVlbf)
Bolt B 54 NVm (550 kgfVcm, 40 ftVlbf)

Bolt A is the top alternator bolt. Bolt B is the bottom one, and a royal PITA to loosen. Toyota does not define the length of the "adjusting bar", what I use is an extended length crowbar, 36" I think. Basically you need more leverage.

if you have a way of checking belt tension, it should be measured between the alternator and crank pulley, and give 11 to 13 mm at 340 to 440 N*M of tension.
