Default Transmission Flushed

Just took my 2005 xB with 57,043 miles on the odometer to my local garage.

They have the BG Products (www.bgprod.com) flush equipment on trial loan,
and I decided this would be a good time to have the transmission flushed.

Glad I did!!!
The mechanic reported that the old transmission fluid was BLACK.
They replaced the fluid with a BG Products synthetic transmission fluid with some sort o f conditioner.

While it was there they also used another BG Products machine to flush the Power Steering.
- That was nowhere near as bad as the transmission fluid.,, just brown.

The only down side to this was the cost.
But, I think of it more as an investment in the life of the car. :D

Excellent point!
That's why I did this now.
This is a new car (to me) with unknown maintenance history.

I've only put 3,000 miles on it so far. :D

yeah, u really need watch the tranny fluid... Aside from the engine, that's the other part that heats up the most from friction...

And, since I've put on a tow hitch (for those short jaunts to the dump), I will be installing a transmission cooler. :D

I'm glad there are people like you who do their required maintenances. Cars like yours will last a long time...

Hahaha... Werd... I've been meaning to get one installed.... I notice when I'm in stop & go traffic for about 1 hr my car starts shifting kind of rough...

Cheap upgrade to if you know how or know someone that know how to install... Like, $50 to $100 tops...
