clogged filters, dirty plugs, too much gas at once making the engine bog, too many passengers, 1.5litre engine geared for fuel economy and not power, slight grade, clutch slipping? air/fuel mixture is bad or something is wrong with the CPU and is affecting mixture and timing?

first thing is how many miles on the box, and how do you drive - like a granny, or do you race around and push the box at every chance you get? did you allow enough time for engine break in? I would first check the air filter, and spark plugs to make sure they look normal. if dirty, clean them or get new airfilter / and or plugs. is yours a manual or auto?
PM me for more info. I think this is a good topic that others should read up on. Did it suddenly get really hot or really humid out by where you live? heat and humidity will trigger the fuel injection system to put out less gas, and mess with the timing accordingly. love that VVTi learning CPU. less gas in the mix = less power, thats why your ride runs stronger in the winter and at night. really, there is no way to change the A/F mixture. you could try getting an AFC2 controller or a gready Emanage, but the learning CPU will compensate for that as i have heard. you can get a Echo CPU which i believe is not a learning CPU. Should be pretty easy to change the fuel filters, but i believe that there is no way it would be clogged even if you have an 04 like me. check the air filters first.
