What's some fairly cheap mods for some horsepower gains?

A cai will provide a lil more torque, and change the sound of your exhaust slightly, but don't expect too much.
An exhaust may free up a couple of ponies, but you won't notice anything.
With new headers and exhaust, you may feel a slight difference, but once you get used to it, you'll think that all it did was change the sound of your exhaust.
You may want to just put the $$ into other mods...

I've driven an AT xB with a K&N and it still felt slower than mine.
The best mod you can do to feel like you're a bit less slow is have a MT.

That depends on your POV. I just paid $200 for an Injen CAI and if I could get the same gains again for that price, I'd slap down the 2 bills right now.
I'm not concerned with peak hp gains, it's what it does over the whole powerband that I care about. The increase in response at low rpms, from a stop and the increase in acceleration that allows me to give less pedal for the same acceleration is key to me. Plus, it's saving me a little gas without me having to slow my driving habits...
Really thinking about that header now...
